Motorola Presents the Most Expensive Cell Phone
The jury is still out on whether or not this is THE most expensive cell phone on the planet, but if it isn’t, Motorola is working pretty hard to give it a good ranking on the list. It’s called the Motorola Aura and is basically a way that Motorola is thumbing its nose at today’s economy.
The Aura is a high-end luxury phone with all the pretty bells and whistles that go along with it. It sports a swivel design that is very much like its more affordable brother, the Motorola V70 and offers some pretty posh finishes at the end of the day. The display proudly supports 16 million different colors
alongside its 300 dpi resolution. But it is the skin to this baby that will tell the world that this phone has some bling. The skin is a stainless steel with a textured pattern that in itself takes two weeks to make for every model. The motto says Moto and is sculpted and etched directly into the phone, and the lens is created from 1.62 carat sapphire crystal. The gears of the phone are coated in tungsten carbide, and the finish on the stainless steel is a mirrored polish similar to what you will find on a Rolex. And then you have the keypad, made in itself of aluminum alloy, with the swivel on the phone being custom engineered with 130 precision ball bearings that are pure Swiss. And that’s pretty much what you are paying for when it comes to this blinged out phone, because the features are almost standard when it comes to cell phone options. You’ll find here a 2 megapix camera, 2GB of accessible memory, quad band GSM support, Bluetooth capabilities, music players, open source browser, SMS, email, speakerphone, and Moto’s Crystal Talk feature. Nope, not a whole lot of features to make your eyes pop, is it. For those looking for a stocking stuffer for the rich dude on your list, you can pick this up starting December 4th for a buck shy of two grand. That’s right, $1999 is the price tag on this phone, and if pretty is a bigger feature than fancy do-dads on the phone, well, you’ll be happy with this one then.
