Rumor: Hedi Slimane for Yves Saint Laurent?

Rumors are circulating that Hedi Slimane will take over the creative reins from Stefano Pilati at the esteemed French fashion house of Yves Saint Laurent. Slimane, who’s most notable for his androgynous, ultra skinny forward-thinking suits, has reinvented himself as a photographer after exiting at the menswear division of Dior. This big transition is rather on the horizon since Stefano Pilati’s latest contract is due to expire next month, thus paving the way for Slimane’s entry into the Maison. Although Pilati’s occupancy has had a “giant step” forward in terms of profitability and growth in recent times, PPR chief executive Francois-Henri Pinault however did not make any comments concerning the designer’s contract renewal. Robert Geller 2012 Spring/Summer “SECONDS” Collection

Aimed to be an elegant yet casual take on classic athletic wear, German-born New York-based designer Robert Geller introduces the “SECONDS” collection for Spring/Summer 2012. Geller has garnered himself an impressive resume in recent years including 2009 GQ’s Best New Menswear Designer in America and a recipient of the 2011 CFDA Swarovski Award for Menswear. This premium line sees the designer utilizing premium cotton textiles that are directly sourced from select Japanese mills onto a number of cut and sew garments including shirts, sweatshirts, zip-ups, hooded pullovers and sweatpants. Each muted piece make for a good styling component to bolder garments as it delivers an innovative color-blocking aesthetic.

A range of patent and full grain leathers find their way onto a selection of derbies, creeper boots, gladiators and flip flops, while a segment of Birkenstock-inspired sandals are mocked up in olive and seafoam greens. Understated branding embellishment is positioned towards the rear heel and straps of each iteration while eccentric plastic zipper accents, contoured footbed and a pin-up girl aesthetic complete the design of numerous footwear pieces.
