Upper Playground Presents: MQ Capsule Collection

“MQ doesn’t paint, he bombs.”

MQ is notorious for his brash style and the sheer volume of his work in the streets. For over a decade, the New York City-born artist has made his name in the graffiti world by being fearless and staying true to street culture. Now, for the first time, MQ’s style is being applied to new canvases: the New Era 59FIFTY and the t-shirt.

The MQ New Era caps come in 2 variations: LA Style and UP Bubble. LA Style features the style originating from the City of Angels and features the angular, linear letters in bright orange embroidery on black wool. UP Bubble features MQ’s bubble handstyle embroidered in MQ’ s signature metallic silver. Both New Eras feature a Tyvek label with MQ’s rendition of the UP logo on the back of the hat. Today we present to you a unique film collaboration between Benjamin Millepied and Y-3 for The Last Magazine: The Third Wave. The Third Wave was choreographed by Benjamin Millepied, with music by Patrik Berger, and features Millepied, a principal dancer at the New York City Ballet, together with four young dancers, including Jessica Saund from American Ballet Theatre.

Maiden Noir Spring 2010 Collection

Seattle’s Maiden Noir has released the first part of their Spring 2010 Collection. The drop includes new jackets, shirts, t-shirts, as well as pants and denim. Especially the parka is really nice, as well as the military inspired shirts. The collection is now available at Haven.

In welcoming the Spring/Summer 2010 season, JOYCE presents the much anticipated “Truly Gifted III” program starting from February 25th to March 14th.  After last season’s incredibly successful Truly Gifted program, in which they collaborated with Alexander McQueen to create an exclusive USB stick for JOYCE, they invited more designers to participate in their largest promotional program of the season.  Designers from Rick Owens, Dries Van Noten, Marni, Etro, Bless and Anna Sui specially designed limited iPhone cases for Hong Kong’s JOYCE.

Creative elements from the brands’ current collections are portrayed in the iPhone cases with Bless’ rock-shaped case as the most unique.  All cases are exclusively available at JOYCE and selected affiliated boutiques.

Nike Lunar Woven Chukka "Multicolor"

Nike will release a new Lunar Woven Chukka. The mid top sneaker comes with a multicolor woven upper on a clean white sole. Around the eyelets you find navy suede, matching the lining. The sneaker will drop at Soph Parco, Sophnet’s shop inside Isetan and Sophnet flagship stores from March 19th.

Mishka Tokyo Flagship Store coming March 2010

The speed at which Mishka is currently opening flagship stores is definitely impressive. The New York brand opened their Brooklyn outlet not too long ago and just celebrated the opening of their Los Angeles store last week. Today the new Tokyo flagship store has been announced, with the opening scheduled for 6th of March.
