Gentemstick Snowboards

Selectism puts us onto Gentemstick Snowboards. “Japanese designer and inveterate snowboarder Taro Tamai has been hand-shaping his eye-catching Gentemstick boards for over a decade. An answer to the homogenization of board shapes that happened as snowboarding gained mainstream appeal, Tamai’s goal is no less than to “perfectly blend into the terrain miraculously made of snow and wind, just as if birds flying in the sky or fish flowing in the stream.” The upshot of his philosophical approach to the sport (he calls it snow-surfing) is a line of boards renowned for their flexible fins, oversized sized fish tails and rideability in almost any snow condition.”

Robert Geller x Common Projects Autumn/Winter 2010 Lookbook

While we’ve given you a look at the boot collaboration between shoe brand Common Projects and designer Robert Geller before, what many people don’t realize is that the initiative consisted of more than just footwear.
“The idea was a cross-collaboration, where the Robert Geller crew designed leather goods; boots, a bag and belt, and Common Projects designed the clothes. Each brand would then produce the pieces the other brand designed. The result is the perfect outfit to take on a trip: A hat, trenchcoach, button up shirt, slim pant, razor thin belt, leather boots with removable spat and a suede weekend bag.”
Product aside, the book itself, shot and designed by Peter Poopat (1/2 of Common Projects), is a work of beauty all on it’s own.
Converse First String Standard Matchpoint III Ox

Digging into the archives, Converse pulls out the Matchpoint III for their tightly distributed First String Standard collection. “Carrying DNA from an original 1970s era silhouette, this shoe, originally designed for court sports, has an ultra-clean, updated look with monochromatic suede uppers that contrast with simple white soles. Subtle, sharp details are added as well, like a simple cut-out star on the shoe’s heel.” Available now at The Darkside Initiative in two colors – black and parchment.

Nixon “The Re-Run” Watch

Founded in 1997 by Andy Laats & Chad DiNenna in California, Nixon’s popularity has been growing ever since within the youth market. For this season, a new model titled “The Re-Run” is released. While it seems the watch is a step back from the more contemporary designs Nixon is known for, the retro themed model gives a fresh choice to their ever extensive lineup. It features a four function digital interface with calendar, dual time, alarm, countdown timer and light, where the shell is made out of molded ABS pushers and hardened mineral crystal. Available now in three colorways of all black, gold and black via Nixon stockists.
