You might not know this, what with all their attention paid to the youngest-ever NBA MVP, a stunning MTV video starlet and the most flamboyant guest designer doing it today, but adidas has a sincere interest in the sport of table tennis.  Three Stripes to this day makes among the world’s very best ping-pong sneakers and paddles (or ‘blades’, as they’re more commonly called by those in the know), and this latest drop from the Originals division is a subtle reminder they’ve been at this for decades.  The adidas Originals Tischtennis ‘Olympic Pack’ features Union Jack pennants on the lateral heels, but the more intriguing embroidery might be the brown Stripes that divide the white pair’s side panels.  There’s also a navy pair with leather branding depicted below, so click through to see both and let us know which of these you’ll be more likely to cop when they hit select retailers this June.  via FNG

DJ Muro x adidas Consortium “Your Story” Pro Shell Further Look

Partnering with Jim Thompson, Aloe Blacc, Quote, Kate Moross and Japanese hip-hop sensation DJ Muro, the adidas Consortium project celebrates this year’s Olympic games with a limited edition capsule collection dubbed “Your Story”. These Pro Shells have been infused with the celebrated Japanese rapper’s spirit of Attitude, incorporating disparate elements into bold and ultimately tough looking street sneakers. Featuring black premium suede uppers textured with reptilian stripes, the shoe also carries green and red Velcro blends reminiscent of a tracksuit. The laces feature an edict to “KEEP ON DIGGIN’ 365 DAYS” while Muro’s skull and bones logo furnish the heel.

Kate Moross x adidas Consortium “Your Story” Collection Baltic Cup Further Look

Jim Thompson, DJ Muro, Aloe Blacc, Quote and London-based creative Kate Moross are pivotal parts of adidas Consortium’s Olympic-themed “Your Story” collection. As seen here, Kate Moross’s reworking of the Baltic Cup subtly marries her love of geometry with the iconic Olympic ring colors. Using premium suede gray uppers with trademark triangle motifs in an ingeniously reflective material, the young illustrator, filmmaker and designer from London manages to give these handball court shoes an updated sleek minimalist feel. A bright red loop tag on the tongue and matching green fabric loop at the heel completes the shoe.

This Summer adidas Originals is set to introduce yet another iteration of the iconic ZX 8000. First released in the late 1980s as the brand’s flagship running silhouette, the kicks feature adidas’s TORSION system for midfoot rigidity, stability and support. This year they are set to drop in White/Light Scarlet/Black and Lab Green/Black/Craft Orange colorways, each utilizing a combination of suede, mesh and leather with an external heel counter for a lockdown fit. Look for both options to hit Berlin’s Overkill in July.

adidas has some more colors of the ZX 8000 in store for Summer 2012. We’ve seen some nice ones release this season already, but it never hurts to have some more options for the sneaker on deck. The two new colors include a safe white/red/black colorway, which is always nice, and the other features an eye catching lab green/black/craft orange color for extra pop. These will be available around July at Overkill.

As this summer marks the start of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, adidas Originals is set to release a special collection for the British Olympians. The Team Great Britain sponsor since the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, the TGB Tailored Sport Collection pays homage to the sportswear silhouettes of old with tailored, menswear-inspired pieces. Captured here by esteemed photographer Cameron McNee and styled by Sunday Times Style Fashion Features Editor and menswear stylist Michael Hennegan, the collection includes outerwear, fleece, polos, shorts and more, mostly in shades of Great Britain’s red, white and blue and adorned with the adidas Originals Trefoil. adidas Consortium x Jim Thompson Your Story Matchplay | Detailed Look

In addition to the detailed shots of DJ Muro’s Pro Shell we posted today, shots of Jim Thompson’s contribution to the adidas Consortium “Your Story” campaign are also out to amp up the energy ahead of their Saturday release. The designer from Sydney’s Three Over One transforms the classic Matchplay silhouette to give it an uncomplicated, but vintage look inspired by kicks from adidas’ Track & Field archives. Featuring a black waxed leather upper and a matching pigskin suede toe-box, Thompson’s decision to leave out the inner-line gives this shoe a hand-made feel. A distressed white rubber midsole that matches the branding on the ankle enhance the old-school personality of this sneaker. Three Over One branding finishes off the look under the Tri-Foil tag on the tongue. Look for these and other pieces of the adidas Consortium collection at select retailers beginning Saturday, May 19th.

Their Nizza is adidas Originals’ classic basketball silhouette most likely to be compared to the Nike Blazer, but did you know adi Dassler’s footwear brand actually beat the Swoosh’s first b-ball sneaker to market by nearly four years?  1969′s adidas Originals Basket Profi beat the Blazer out of the gates by a hefty margin, and these four new suede designs attempt to gain back some of that attention.  Featuring white-on-color construction, these come off quite similar to Nike Sportswear’s VNTG Blazer series; will you make these a part of your rotation now that they’re available at select Three Stripes dealers like 43einhalb?

Under the fashion centric banner of adidas SLVR, the trefoil brand presents a footwear collection for Spring/Summer 2012 that’s inspired by the sport of fencing. Dirk Schoenberger, creative director of the sport style division at adidas, once observed, “When I’m in Berlin and I see how the young guys and girls are dressing, none of them are wearing sneakers anymore. So you think, if these are the target consumers, and we are only selling sneakers, well, what are we going to do?” The answer to that question is essentially the whole of adidas SLVR, which blends fashion with sport — in this case, the rarefied world of fencing, which explains the clean lines and lightly netural color palette.
