adidas Originals ZX 700 – Power Blue – Green Blend

adidas Originals ZX 700 Power Blue Green Blend

The simple fact is, while we still have an almost infinite amount of technical innovation ahead of us, certain things about the sneaker industry are almost set in stone by this point in history.  For example, even in the craziest Jeremy Scott or Y-3 releases, the shape of any sneaker is still going to reflect our natural anatomy.  And because of the fact that we’ve seen so many recognizeable designs over the past couple decades, it seems like the majority of palatable color combos have been utilized and given a nickname.  But then you see something like the adidas Originals ZX 700, a familiar silhouette with a palette so unique, it makes you realize there’s still plenty of real estate left on the color wheel.  These really just employ your basic ‘Microsoft/Google/eBay’ color scheme, but the subtle tweaks to each of the primary colors plus a pinch of purple gives these a simultaneously rustic and vibrant feel.  Solid if not outstanding for a general release, you’ll find these at select adidas Originals accounts like SNS

adidas Y-3 Black Savage

adidas Y 3 Black Savage

When you think of non-traditional enclosures, examples like the Footscape’s asymmetrical lacing system, the Reebok Insta Pump Fury and Puma Disc Blaze are probably right at the top of the list.  But none of those can hold a candle to the latest release from ever-innovative Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto‘s long-running collaboration with adidas, the Y-3 Black Savage hightop.  Sporting a Tricolore sole with more teeth than your average hacksaw, this shelltoed boot-inspired design utilizes an elastic cord lockdown system like the one Yamamoto used on the Y-3 Sneak, another model we expect as part of the spring/summer 2012 collection.  If you can’t believe your eyes, click through for more proof that these are indeed a real design, and you’ll find them at top-tier retailers like Ssense.

Dwight Howard Reveals Adidas adiPower Howard 2

adidas adiPower Howard 2 Signature Shoe
Superman himself will be lacing up a new shoe for the second half of the NBA season. Dwight Howard debuted his Adidas adiPower Howard 2 signature shoe in a Youtube video just a few days ago. Howard’s second signature shoe from Adidas focuses on comfort and cushioning for your feet during games. This is the lightest Howard signature shoe to date, and includes the ALIVE cushioning system, which provides extra comfort. Molded Adidas stripes and 3D TPU cage give the shoe a nice lockdown support, and keep the laces nice and tight. The shoe also features a Cilia Traction System to better the grip on the court. The shoe has many noticeable unique features that give it an excellent design. A shattered glass graphic shoes Howard’s power and history of bringing down backboards. There’s also a Superman inspired “DH” logo on the tongue. Not to mention Howard’s signature on the heel and his number on the medial side. The adiPower Howard 2 drops February 9th at Foot Locker, Eastbay, and shopadidas.com. They retail for $100.

Nike Tennis Classic AC ND – White – Gorge Green

Nike Tennis Classic AC ND White Gorge Green

Though its application isn’t as consistent as, say, a Jumpman on Air Jordan Retros, a fairly significant portion of classic designs from Nike Sportswear come with the classic orange Swoosh on their tongue tags. Historically, this has often indicated pre-yellowed VNTG releases, but the vulcanized soles on this new Nike Tennis Classic AC ND are clearly far too pristine to have gotten the oxidized touch. But one thing they are borrowing from the good old days is a colorway we’ve come to associate with adidas Tennis veterans like the Rod Laver and Stan Smith signature models, so how does a simple green-on-white palette suit this silhouette? Click through for more images and look for these at NSW retailers like Calirooots.

adidas Originals ZX 8000 ‘Super Green’

adidas Originals ZX 8000 Super Green

In describing the most recent adidas Originals ZX 8000 release, we noted that they looked more like the Air Jordan VIII ‘Aqua’ than their own OG colorway with that same nickname.  This latest release swings the pendulum back in the opposite direction, opting to vary from the original Eight Thousands by switching up the blocking pattern and trading blue for Super Green.  The result is a springy mix that’s an egg insignia or some other little detail away from earning an ‘Easter’ nickname.  The March release date seems perfectly timed with this in mind, and you can lock up your pair already with a pre-order today from Crooked Tongues.
