Gentemstick Snowboards

Gentemstick Boards

Selectism puts us onto Gentemstick Snowboards. “Japanese designer and inveterate snowboarder Taro Tamai has been hand-shaping his eye-catching Gentemstick boards for over a decade. An answer to the homogenization of board shapes that happened as snowboarding gained mainstream appeal, Tamai’s goal is no less than to “perfectly blend into the terrain miraculously made of snow and wind, just as if birds flying in the sky or fish flowing in the stream.” The upshot of his philosophical approach to the sport (he calls it snow-surfing) is a line of boards renowned for their flexible fins, oversized sized fish tails and rideability in almost any snow condition.”

Future Soul Records presents & THE G++DNESS EP

Album CoverFuture Soul Records presents… “THE G++DNESS” EP Out Today!

Today, Seattle-based imprint, Future Soul Records releases “THE G++DNESS” EP – a two-headed beat beast that features FSR veterans John Arnold & Jeremy Ellis, with vocals and bass from Detroit frontman Paul Randolph, and their electric cover of Circle City Band’s 1982 classic boogie track, “Magic”, which goes head-to-head with Bugz in the Attic beat prodigy Daz-I-Kue, and the poetic styling’s of LA vocalist Joy Jones, in their rendition of Unlimited Touch’s, “In the Middle.” With a smooth blend of programming, live musical performance and soulful vocals, “THE GOODNESS EP”, will take you back to the “golden age” of dance floor boogie by incorporating elements of house, funk, disco and the many other sounds boogie opened the door to in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s.

“In the Middle” features Daz-I-Kue on the beats and boards, with long-time collaborator Joy Jones on vocals, (accompanied by John Arnold, Jeremy Ellis, Amy Arena and K Claude Harris). This tune offers the listener a lively boogie tune that takes you back… just in time to be shifted into the future as Dominic “Domu” Stanton, producer/DJ/remix master, who has announced his exit from the industry after years at the top of the underground production game, provides one of his mini-maximum remixes, listen and love, as this may turn out to be Domu’s official final funky curtain call.

“Magic” features Detroit’s own John Arnold & Jeremy Ellis, both of whom provide not only their solid production skills, but the long-lost art of musicianship with Jeremy on keys, John on guitar and another Detroit special guest, Paul Randolph (a journeyman player, and recent collaborator with Jazzanova) on bass and providing vocals. To round it out, up-start producer, Ezel (Yoruba Records) kicks in with a deep, soulful House remix that doubles as part epilogue to “THE G++DNESS EP” as well as part prelude… A foreshadowing of the good things to come from FSR in the near future.

*Stay tuned for the full length release of “THE G++DNESS” coming out Fall, 2010.*

Muffinman’s Clamshell’s Soup Bramble WWRp Custom

bramblereveal1

We’ve seen a few impressive WWR customs, but this Bramble WWRp custom by Muffinman from the ThreeA forums is probably the best yet.  First off, the can of soup ‘joke is great and works perfectly.  Second and perhaps equally importantly is the executation.  An idea can be great but it’s just that if the execution is lacking.  Not here at all.  From the ‘surgery’ to the paint – this one looks like a weathered can of soup off to wage battle.  Awesome – so much so that you might be fooled into thinking it’s a special production edition.

Ashley Wood x 3A – WWRp Large Martins (2.18.10)

ironp

Ashley Wood and 3A seemingly never rest.  They’re frenetic – working on new untold toys, announcing upcoming releases – all the time. The next big release features the next WWR bot to get the 1:12 WWRp treatment – the Large Martin.  These are dropping at 4:59 PM PDT on Thursday, February 18th 2010 from Bambaland.

As far as we know here’s how the various Bambaland exclusive sets break down.  First there are three 3-packs featuring 1 Large Martin, 1 Damn Large Martin (two guns), and 1 RPG Bramble (such as Phobos shown below).  Each of these three packs will be available for $130.  There’s also a 3×3 pack ($350) featuring all nine figures + a bonus 1:12 Blanc De Plume (the original 1:6 is a Holy Grail of sorts for Ashley Wood collectors).  Finally, 3AA members will be able to purchase a special Nightwatch, Daywatch, DIY Damn Large Martin three-pack.

Final notes – if you’re counting you’ll note that there are more than 3 different large martin WWRp types shown after the jump.  That’s because some of the pics are of editions that will be in the Bambaland packs while others are apparently retailer exclusives.  Also, as with many pre-release 3A pics, most of the Large Martins shown here are not final – they are missing their decals [Sources: ThreeA production blog and Gimbat’s 3A news updates).
