Stay Conscious: Houseware, Where The Heart Is

Spatial awareness is an organized awareness of the objects in the space around us right? So if the objects in the space around us are things like The Keith Haring Dancers Wall Decal by Blik (as seen in Karmaloop Headquarter’s  lobby), The U.S Indian Flag by Rothco , and/or The Eye Clock by suck UK, doesn’t that mean we are optimizing the space around us with the coolest shit possible? Yes!

I want you ladies (and bros) to stay conscious of our housewares section as we constantly have unique products dropping on a weekly basis. Shoutout to Erika K., our amazing Housewares Buyer, who’s been grinding to keep our site stocked with the raddest home and tech accessories ever!

ColdWarCreations Nixie Clock

During the Cold War, both the USA and the Soviet Union were consistently at odds not only to strike fear into the hearts of their rivals but also to out-do one another technologically. One of the first types of digital displays, Russian-made “nixie tubes” use cold cathode tubes filled with neon gas and a wire mesh anode attached to a set of very intricate cathodes in the shape each of the numerals to be displayed. Used in Russia up through the 1980s, the tubes were eventually replaced by newer technology due to their costly, high voltage requirements and delicate construction. This clock from ColdWarCreations, however, puts repurposed nixie tubes to good use by combining the Russian military’s creation with modern electronics inside hand cut and polished Simax glass cases. The result of this experiment is a surprisingly contemporary-looking timepiece for the home with just a hint of ominous Soviet flair, priced at $245.

Bike Chain Clock

Bike Chain Clock

We love the internet, how else would we get to enjoy all the unique inventions and cool designs. Recently came across a Bike Chain clock, and how it works is simple; the chain has numbers on it and as it winds the numbers move accordingly. As you can see, the whole setup looks vintage, and the brand wanted to take it back to cycling roots. Don’t expect to get it cheap, retail is $2,388.
