Kendrick Lamar Inspired By Kanye West’s Release For “New Slaves”

If you still haven't heard what Kanye West did over the weekend, then we're just going to chalk it up that you've been asleep for the last couple of days. On Friday night/early Saturday morning, Ye released a new visual for "New Slaves," from his forthcoming and tentatively titled album, Yeezus. And while any drop-off from Kanye is always a big affair, this one was slightly different. The G.O.O.D. Music head honcho decided to project the aesthetic on 66 buildings across the world. This of course had people lining up in the streets of various cities throughout. Here, Sway of MTV spoke with Kendrick Lamar on the event, as expectantly, Kendrick says he is inspired by the delivery and cannot wait to hear West's new album. Kanye West set the internets ablaze once again this weekend with a handful of incredible promotional teasers such as a video worldwide premiere accross six different cities, a polarizing performance in front of a mass national audience and a controversial album title.

First, Kanye took to Twitter on Friday to announce he would be projecting a brand new video for his single “Black Slaves” on 66 locations scattered around the globe, including six in Chicago. Check out some footage at Millenium Park shot by Maks G of GoWhereHipHop here.

Ye then went on Saturday Night Live the following day and performed “Black Slaves” & “Black Skinhead”, both very powerful records infused with an undeniable energy which carried an unapolagetic message. Millon $ Mano also made a cameo behind the boards. You can stream both performances below.

Lastly, on Sunday it was officially announced that Kanye’s forthcoming album would be entitled Yeezus and confirmed the project’s artwork, which was leaked by Kim Kardashian and seen above.

After all the pandemonium there’s nothing left to say but; Yeezus drops June 18th, be sure to cop it and be a part of history.

Taking the audio from his recent performance of the single during Saturday Night Live, Fresh Direct reworks the drums and gives the song a more upbeat danceable vibe. Kendrick Lamar Speaks On Kanye West’s “New Slaves” Premiere (Video)

Fresh off his performance at the Hangout Festival in Alabama, Kendrick Lamar sat down with MTV to share his thoughts on Kanye West’s premiere of “New Slaves” (that was projected on 66 buildings across the world on Friday night) and his upcoming album Yeezus (check the artwork here).

On the premiere: It sounded crazy. That whole marketing scheme is crazy. It’s very inspiring. After a while you get to a point in hip-hop where certain tactics get watered down. How much music can you release on the Internet to get it hot? How many singles can you put out? How many videos can you possibly do?

On the album: That’s crazy, I want to hear that. That’s that creative Kanye genius stuff out the box … whatever way is his way of being creative and getting his message across through that album, that’s the culture. I can’t wait to hear it.
