A Bathing Ape x Schott NYC 2012 Fall/Winter Riders Jacket

A Bathing Ape x Schott NYC 2012 Fall/Winter Riders Jacket

Schott NYC and A Bathing Ape have reunited for the 2012 fall/winter season, resulting in this exclusive leather jacket. This time around the classic Schott NYC Riders jacket has been chosen as the base model. A rather in-depth process went in to choosing the type of leather that was used for the outer of the jacket. By selecting the hide of a cow that had birthed a calf over two years before, the team found that the resulting product was smoother and thinner than that of a steer but stronger and thicker than calf skin. To make sure whoever does purchase this jacket does not forget that it is a BAPE product the nylon inner features an OG Green Camo pattern throughout. All other branding has been kept to a minimum, with no obvious logos on show, not even the traditional BAPE tag. The A Bathing Ape x Schott NYC Riders jacket is expected to release in the fall with a Japanese retail price of ¥84,000 JPY (approximately $1,070 USD).

Wear it 3 Ways: The Wonder Skirt

I don’t know what kind of weather you’re experiencing in your corner of the world, but here in Boston the flowers are practically blooming! With spring in mind, all I can think of is flirty skirts, colorful prints, and crop tops. The Wonder Skirt is fun and totally versatile. The large dots add a playful twist to this great midi skirt.

Mid length skirts can be hard to pull off, but I’d like to offer three different ways in which you can work with this length while keeping it fresh and young. In this first look I go for a white bodysuit with a mesh middle to convert the overall look to one that is sexy and streamlined. Some flat neutral shoes for comfort and a bright trench for those early days of spring. Try teaming up this look with a  contrasting print on your bag. Make sure the colors on your bag are similar to the dots on the skirt! Try these pieces: the Bodysuit in Off White by For Love and Lemons, the Petrelli Coat by BB Dakota, and the Spotty Dotty flat from *Sole Boutique.

For my second look I went for a bolder look wearing a red hand knit top (one of my latest thrifted piece), a nice pastel belt to accentuate the waist, some dark wooden bangles, and they’re not shown here, but a pair of neutral or white pumps to top this off. Try the Dee Crop Sweater by Motel and the Cruise Belt by remi & reid.

In this last look I go for a more bohemian look incorporating a cream colored crop top, lots of white bangles, cream colored peep toe booties, and a fringed leather coat. For similar items try the Smocked Seamless Crop Top by Free People and the Anne XII Boot from *Sole Boutique.

Cop This Look: Zoë Kravitz

Zoë Kravitz, daughter of bohemian beauty Lisa Bonet and rock star Lenny Kravitz, is naturally quite the trendsetter. Her innately cool sense of style is definitely an inspiration for me. Recently she was spotted at an event looking super chic in an Alexander Wang mini leather shift dress and sleek pointy pumps. This outfit is so effortless but edgy and glamorous at the same time which makes it totally memorable. No wonder why she has hot boyfriend Penn Badgely by her side and tons of acting and modeling projects coming up! As soon as this leather-look dress by Evil Twin hit the site it reminded me of her flawless ensemble.  Learn how to get her look:

  2. The Eye Doll Shoe in Black by *Sole Boutique
  3. The Uma Clutch in Black Leather by Mata Hari

Evil Twin SS’12: Black Magic Woman

Bustiers, leather fringe, ripped denim, and maxi skirts, all done in sun-baked, earthy hues like ochre and rust, make up the majority of Evil Twin‘s new S/S ’12 lookbook.  The overall feel can only truly be captured by a weekend at Coachella (or a slightly more gothic Woodstock), but we think the Aussie brand is as close as you can get to a sun-beaten desert without booking a plane ticket to California.

With names like the “Joplin” and “Brown Sugar,” Evil Twin isn’t trying to hide where their inspiration comes from. Think rocker meets hippie meets cowgirl, and anything that would help you get in touch with your wild side. If you need further explanation, we can put it in clearer music terms for you – they’ve dubbed the lookbook “Black Magic Woman,” after the 1968 bluesy rock single from none other than Fleetwood Mac.

House of Harlow Spring Shoes: A Ssssstep in the Right Direction

House of Harlow 1960 is definitely the epitome of boho glam in the contemporary fashion world (Nicole Richie is the boss lady after all). This spring the brand introduces a reptilian shoe collection with its signature embellished moccasins to sport on casual days. Everyone knows the chicest leather is an exotic one, so while 5-figure alligator backpacks may not be your jam (ahem, The Row) HoH has you covered with snake embossed pumps. Add some woven details and you’ve got a stylish platform that stands the test of time while remaining especially trendy this spring with a polished pastel hue.

Deadly Night Shade

The much anticipated Shadow Spike booties by Jeffrey Campbell are finally in stock!

Even I could not resist trying these demons on!

These spikes are not kidding around… but leave it to team JC to make sure you dont actually puncture a vein.

The inner spikes are much more flat and dull than the outer. So you will just be attacking innocent passerby’s and not yourself!

Available in Black Leather and Black Patent. Get them quick because they are sure to disappear faster than you can say

Karmaloop Looks: Greatest Hits of 2011

Mink Pink Shorts

I know, a little behind the curve on this “Best of” list… we are technically into the second week of 2012 — however, as I sift through our old blog posts I’m realizing just how many killer looks we’ve put together over 2011. Many of them are particularly trendy and remain indelible in our memories. Here are our Top 10 heavy hitters! Any of these your favorite?

1. (above!) Look of the Week: Who Loves the Sun – #1 encompasses this year’s trends impeccably! Southwestern prints, high waisted denim, Lita’s, and one of the prettiest faces in Boston: Olivia.

Jeffrey Campbell

2. Look of the Week: Walk of Shame – Ok so Olivia holds silver with this morning after look… I recall hearing that Emily and Mari tried to transform Olivia into a hungover, hot mess with no success because she is too goddamn gorgeous!

3. Look of the Week: Everyone is Watching Kelly is quite the firecracker in red. Plus this look marks a couple newbies on the site: Miista and BOTB by Hellz (not really a noob, just a reborn favorite!).

4. Look of the Week: Fresh for Fall – Remember our model contest? Well, Kouwai was the winner and she rocked these cozy fall threads.

5. Look of the Week: Kick Back & RelaxThe Serena Wool Lined Boots took Karmaloop by storm this season. And Bri is one of our new favorite models. No wonder this look was so popular!

Look of the Week Karmaloop

6. Look of the Week: I’m a Bad Bitch – Talk about a classic! We’ve got a ruched bodycon dress and a badass leather jacket for this spring post.

7. Look of the Week: And All That Jazz – We struck a homerun with these Jeffrey Campbell star patterned platforms.

8. Look of the Week: Marry the Night – In a fun twist of circumstance, stylist Jeni modeled the look that she would normally shoot on a model and all of you seemed to enjoy it.

9. Look of the Week: Back to Cool – Back to school was huge for us this year, and Ashley donned an adorable first-day ensemble.

10. Look of the Week: No Trespassing – Last but not least, we have an edgy look with stunning Matiko boots and an oversized Mink Pink knit.

WeSC x The Standard Hotel Capsule Collection

The Standard Hotels and WeSC know a thing or 2 about traveling in style: one is a premier boutique hotel group catering to the trendy and fabulous, the other is a lifestyle brand with international clout. Clearly the Standard Culture appeals to WeSC Activists given the design and art sensibilities of both entities. To commemorate a capsule collection, WeSC artists including Cheryl Dunn, Giovanni Reda, Steed Lord, Beth Riesgraf and FriendsWithYou compiled short films for each of the Standard Hotel locations.

The collab consists of luggage tags, wallets, phone cases, and passport holders in solid leather, assigning colorways according to the cities that The Standard calls home (New York, Downtown LA, Hollywood, and Miami). Finally, the cherry on top is a set of headphones to drown out those crying babies and rowdy frat boys on your flight.

Shop the collection for a post-holiday gift to yourself (wouldn’t it be nice to plan a weekend getaway with your tax return?)! To delve further into the collaboration, check out the videos below and head over to WeSCpedia for the full breakdown.
