Build This Look: Mixing Work with Play

Most office environments can be a bit blah when it comes to showcasing personal style. But not ours! Yes, our office is probably better than yours ;) We have young ladies running around that bring something fresh to the office everyday and I LOVE it. Our business casual is probably on a different scale then most. So I thought I should show you how we do it.

One thing I am a big fan of is mixing patterns. I think it brings out what is really going on in my head. I will definitely be that old crazy lady where nothing on matches…and look forward to it! But until then here is the clever way of pairing prints without catching too many crazy looks.

Eliza Dushku in Sam Edelman and Wildfox

Eliza Dushku recently looked stunning in her sleek, modern getup rooted in classic black and cream, retro T-strap shoes, and perfect red lip and nails. Looking to borrow her style? You’re in luck! She is sporting the uber sexy Scarlett Shoe in Egyptian Gold and Black by Sam Edelman and the Foxy Two Finger Ring by Wildfox. This is a great look to wear out because it is not over the top but it also doesn’t sacrifice fashionable details. Let us know, do you dig this look as much as us?

Jeffrey Campbell x The Damned Spring 2012

This week Jeffrey Campbell debuted its Spring 2012 lookbook, Wouldn’t It Be Nice: A Look Back to the Future. We love a good 80s reference, even if it’s not really related to the collection’s subject matter. Maybe I just have time travel on my mind… For starters, we are getting all of these pictured shoes, so you should probably start prepping for them now. Shadow is hands down, the wildest kick of the bunch (and with those spikes, we hope we never are kicked by them). For the whole shebang, head over to the JC Blog and download the entire lookbook.

Look of the Week: T-Shirt Chic

I find something very sexy about a casual tee paired with high heel shoes. If you’ve never done this, I recommend you try! It says “Yes, I’m hot” but still very down to earth… a.k.a., approachable. Let me show you how it’s done with Miss Leah’s outfit, and maybe you can take a stab at it this glorious long weekend!

We accessorized here with….

Blot on that red lip for an extra touch of badass and you’re done. Statement tees work best for me — it’s gives your crush a reason to come talk to you… (Maybe we should turn this into a how to get a the guy post?? I kid). At the end of the day, always dress up for yourself. You are more than worth it!

Karmaloop Looks: Greatest Hits of 2011

Mink Pink Shorts

I know, a little behind the curve on this “Best of” list… we are technically into the second week of 2012 — however, as I sift through our old blog posts I’m realizing just how many killer looks we’ve put together over 2011. Many of them are particularly trendy and remain indelible in our memories. Here are our Top 10 heavy hitters! Any of these your favorite?

1. (above!) Look of the Week: Who Loves the Sun – #1 encompasses this year’s trends impeccably! Southwestern prints, high waisted denim, Lita’s, and one of the prettiest faces in Boston: Olivia.

Jeffrey Campbell

2. Look of the Week: Walk of Shame – Ok so Olivia holds silver with this morning after look… I recall hearing that Emily and Mari tried to transform Olivia into a hungover, hot mess with no success because she is too goddamn gorgeous!

3. Look of the Week: Everyone is Watching Kelly is quite the firecracker in red. Plus this look marks a couple newbies on the site: Miista and BOTB by Hellz (not really a noob, just a reborn favorite!).

4. Look of the Week: Fresh for Fall – Remember our model contest? Well, Kouwai was the winner and she rocked these cozy fall threads.

5. Look of the Week: Kick Back & RelaxThe Serena Wool Lined Boots took Karmaloop by storm this season. And Bri is one of our new favorite models. No wonder this look was so popular!

Look of the Week Karmaloop

6. Look of the Week: I’m a Bad Bitch – Talk about a classic! We’ve got a ruched bodycon dress and a badass leather jacket for this spring post.

7. Look of the Week: And All That Jazz – We struck a homerun with these Jeffrey Campbell star patterned platforms.

8. Look of the Week: Marry the Night – In a fun twist of circumstance, stylist Jeni modeled the look that she would normally shoot on a model and all of you seemed to enjoy it.

9. Look of the Week: Back to Cool – Back to school was huge for us this year, and Ashley donned an adorable first-day ensemble.

10. Look of the Week: No Trespassing – Last but not least, we have an edgy look with stunning Matiko boots and an oversized Mink Pink knit.

The Lacoste LAB Collection

The Lacoste LAB Collection

The Lacoste LAB revives the tradition of innovation, an integral part of the brand’s DNA. Besides being a tennis champion, René Lacoste was also a great inventor and designer. In addition to the famous L.12.12 polo shirt he invented and designed for his own comfort and efficiency on court, he also created technical and revolutionary tennis rackets, balls, golf clubs and golf bags as well as the first ever tennis-ball throwing machine. The artifacts produced by the Lacoste LAB naturally build a bridge between the brand’s heritage and its future.

The Lacoste LAB projects the brand into the future and continues to give Lacoste a competitive edge. It prepares for tomorrow by identifying products which could potentially represent the future of the brand. ‘By seeking new materials and new designs, the LACOSTE LAB expands the ways in which Lacoste expresses itself and boldly takes the crocodile into fields which it has yet to venture’, explains Lacoste Design Director Christophe Pillet, who spearheads the LACOSTE LAB project.

As part of the Lacoste LAB Collection, the French brand collaborated with a series of global brands, each an expert in what they do. GPA Design produced a carbon fibre helmet, LOOK produced a bike, the surfboard was shaped by J.P. Stark and engineered by NOTOX, the skis are produced by Black Crows, the soccer and rugby balls are engineered by MITRE Sports out of Tensile fabric with embroidered crocodile logos and the boomerang is produced by 3B of thin birch plywood. The outcome is a beautiful collaborative collection, now in stock at colette.

Look of the Week: No Comment

I mean… there’s not much to say. The minute model Kelly got dressed in these threads we were all speechless — us and the construction workers in the room where we shot this look.

Since winter is finally here rearing its ugly head and temperatures have dropped to unreasonable lows, try heating things up with this look. We can’t promise you Kelly’s swag (which is on a hundred thousand trillion), but it never hurts to try.

Under this look, model Kelly is wearing intimates by Betsey Johnson and Intimates Boutique. On top, we paired together The Loose String Sweater and The Leopard Kimono, both by UNIF. She’s wearing Blank Denim’s Tangerine Ankle Skinny Jeans and compliments the look with designer Alexander Wang’s Cat Eye Sunglasses (a Karmaloop favorite), Sam Edelman’s Vixen Shoe in black, and jewels by Wildfox  and NEIVZ.

Nip Slips No More

Every girl has the dreaded Nip Slip fear. You know the one where you’re just minding you’re own business drinking and dancing, and then all the sudden one of your friends says your boob is hanging out and she’s not that sure how long it’s been like that.

Well fear no more ladies, because the Nip Slip is now a thing of the past. Celebrities are rocking this super awesome trend, nippies by Bristols6. A creative way to rock your tits out fearlessly, looking super trendy at the same time.  Cleavage is one thing, but when you’re wearing black Xs and a sheer top, it’s a sexy look that’s to die for. Lady Gaga‘s been doing it, XTina‘s done it, Taylor Momsen & Cher are fans, even the demure Miss Jennifer Aniston has worn them. They’ve been popular in music videos, like Rihanna‘s “Rude Boy” video (Really, who doesn’t love that video?) and worn by Pink at the VMA’s, Rihanna at the Grammy’s, and Katy Perry at the MTV Awards. Clearly this trend isn’t going away anytime soon, especially not when we’re all looking forward to it getting hot, hot, hot this summer.

Lucky for y’all we’ve just gotten some really cute ones on the site just in time to wear under your sheer crop top with a high waisted skirt and some out of this world Jeffery Campbell‘s for NYE.

Look of the Week: But Baby It’s Cold Outside

We have to admit, this look is might be a little too scandalous for the average company Christmas party, but who’s judging? Besides, you’ll be the talk of the office well into the New Year – embrace the added attention.

Show a lil’ skin and turn heads break necks in this sexy look!

Our model and lovely Karmaloop receptionist Christy is wearing Motel’s body-hugging bodycon dress with spiraling heart shaped metallic ribbon detailing at the bust (The Meredith Dress in Charcol & Black).  For added warmth she layers her look with Jack BB Dakota’s Perla Jacket, a soft, shaggy textured open front jacket with a shawl collar. Jeffrey Campbell’s metallic embossed, open toe wedges (The For Real Shoe), Mata Hari’s Uma Clutch in Red Leather, and jewelry by Disney Couture and Soho Collection complete this look.
