The Roma Cinema Etoile, Rome’s oldest movie theater, had been shuttered for more than twenty years until Louis Vuitton co-opted the building for its brand new store in the heart of the Italian capital. A video released by takes the viewer on a tour of the Roma Etoile Maison, revealing a beautifully appointed space equipped with an elliptical staircase, gleaming fixtures and an in-house screening room. Architect Peter Marino explains that his primary concern was that the concept of the movie theater remain intact, while Louis Vuitton CEO Yves Carcelle lauds the store’s ability to bring “additional emotion” by presenting a bookstore, art, and cinema as part of the Louis Vuitton retail experience. Louis Vuitton Birdie Sneaker

Louis Vuitton Birdie Sneaker

For Spring/Summer 2012 Louis Vuitton has released the new Birdie low top sneaker. Produced with a premium suede calf leather upper, the boat shoe style sneaker comes with a removable inner sock, hand stitched vamp and rubber outer sole. The silhouette reminds us of some older visvim styles and certainly mashes up more than one popular sneaker style. It comes in two colorways and is now available from Louis Vuitton stores.

Somehow we like the style, but at the same time something feels off. Maybe they should not have gone with such a harsh contrast with the white leather and outer sole. Just an idea.

Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall/Winter 2012 Collection – Runway

Louis Vuitton Men's Fall/Winter 2012 Collection - Runway

Yesterday the new Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall/Winter 2012 Collection was shown on the runways of Paris. Designer Kim Jones presented razor sharp suits, as usual a nice line-up of outerwear and the usual Vuitton accessories this season. We especially like the beige tones used in the new collection, the big wrapped knitwear pieces, and of course also the premium and exotic leather bomber jackets. Check out Kim Jones walking onto the runway in the end in his Supreme ‘Fly Pack’ Era’s.

A full look at the collection follows after the jump.

Marc Jacobs “Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs” Exhibition @ Musée des Arts Decoratifs

Marc Jacobs “Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs” Exhibition @ Musée des Arts Decoratifs

“Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs” is an exhibition that highlights the contributions made to fashion by these two legends of the industry. While much of Marc’s contributions have been made under the umbrella of the Vuitton name– and will remain this way as Jacobs denied claims he will move his talents to Dior – his impact is hard to dispute. His collections have masterfully articulated cultural phenomenon while ultimately being product that is desirable for purchase. Vuitton, on the other hand, was known for his untouchable dedication to quality and designs that are classics to this day. The exhibition weighs the careers of both men, comparing their bodies of work in a way that provides insight into the fashion system during each man’s era. Held as the famous Museé des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, the exhibition is set to run from March 9-16, 2012.

Kanye West Talks About His Fashion Line, Nike, Bape, Louis Vuitton and Not Taking A Versace Job Offer

Kanye West Talks About His Fashion Line, Nike, Bape, Louis Vuitton and Not Taking A Versace Job Offer

Last night Kanye West corrected some rumors with a series of tweets. He talks about his current fashion involvement and what we can expect from him in the coming months and years. One thing is for sure – he is excited and will make a lot of moves in this area.

First of all he mentions that his fashion line is called Kanye West and not DW by Kanye West. He also mentions that he is currently not represented by any agency for his fashion line. Also he says that there is no investors in his fashion line and that his first collection and show was all paid for by himself, with money that he made touring.

Kanye says that he has been offered to do urban clothing lines already 8 years ago and since then he is planning on doing something in the fashion world. Leave his mark. He talks about Bape turning down to produce his line and about shutting his first LA design office (which to our knowledge was for Pastelle at the time) after the MTV incident.

Afterwards he talks about interning at Fendi and being offered a position at Versace, which he could not take because of his working relationship with Louis Vuitton on sneakers. After 4 months at Fendi, Giuseppe Zanotti taught him to design women’s shoes already 2 years before starting the new fashion line. He goes and talks about designing a new Nike sneaker, the Yeezy, every 2 years.

Last he touches on his new design company, called DONDA, after his late mother. “DONDA will be comprised of over 22 divisions with a goal to make products and experiences that people want and can afford…”.

Well, as usual, the man has a lot of plans and we cannot wait to see which ones become reality!

Louis Vuitton 2012 Spring Vachetta Leather Tote Bag

As rumors circulate regarding the possible departure of Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton’s newly appointed Style Director, Kim Jones, has shown the fashion world that the luxury designer label is in good hands. With a successful runway showing for his Spring 2012 collection this past summer and the recent Designer of the Year nod at the British Fashion Awards, Jones looks to revitalize the French fashion house with fresh, youthful cuts and tributes to brands storied luggage past. One of the more popular pieces from the forthcoming collection is this leather tote bag featuring Gaston Vuitton’s – the grandson of founder Louis Vuitton and eventual successor – personal monogram, a geometric “V” print. Manufactured with thin brown vachetta leather – an untreated, special-care required leather typically seen only on handles – this tote also comes complete two size varying handles for both light and heavy loads. This tote along with other items from Louis Vuitton’s Spring collection will be available soon with additional release details on its way.

Louis Vuitton Leather Tote Bag Spring/Summer 2012

Louis Vuitton Leather Tote Bag Spring/Summer 2012

Here is a preview of one of our favorite new tote bags to come from Louis Vuitton for Spring/Summer 2012. The bag comes in a nice thin brown premium leather with both short leather handles and long canvas handles. A nice color hit on the side acts as a great contrast to the otherwise super clean bag. All in all a well balanced and modern daily tote.
