Louis Vuitton Cup 2012 Collection

Once again Louis Vuitton presents its Cup Collection. For 2012 they have extended the offering, presenting goods in ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes and accessories. Each line, designed to the standards of excellence of the Maison, boasts technical subtleties inspired by the world of sailing: water and salt resistant, ease of movement, finely-worked finishing. The Louis Vuitton Cup signature is perfectly integrated in the product. The wealth of the offer allows everyone to find their ideal product, for a simple journey, occasional sailing or a regatta.

The technical outerwear in the collection looks interesting this season, featuring good colors and nice details. But the sneakers and luggage are out favorite pieces in the line-up. The luggage takes classic elements from the LV brand and adds a younger and sportier appeal to them. The line also matches up nicely with the Tambour Regatta America’s Cup watch.

Take a look at the full collection after the jump.

Louis Vuitton 2012 Spring/Summer Catalog

Louis Vuitton 2012 Spring/Summer Catalog

A journey, both literal and metaphorical, is at the heart of Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection. “After all travel forms the foundation of the brand. This is a fundamental part of the lineage and language of Louis Vuitton and is a central component of what it stands for today,” says Kim Jones, the Men’s Style and Studio Director. With this in mind, garments are more traditional in nature but still contain that flare we’ve come to expect from Louis Vuitton. Model Werner Schreyer stars in this season’s ad campaign and catalog shot by Alasdair McMellan that took place during an African safari. The images showcase dashes of color and refinement alongside blue skies, majestic animals and sunsets to die for.

Weekly Street Style: Supreme, Carhartt, Louis Vuitton, visvim & More

Today we start with our weekly street style series. Lookbooks by brands and retailers are a great source of inspiration when it comes to how to dress, yet compared to the real world, it is all very unrealistic. Who wears those perfect outfits and who actually wears an entire outfit from one brand? Hardly anybody and therefore it is always best to be inspired by others, people you come across on the street around the globe.

Caught on the streets of Paris, brands featured in this week’s street style spread include Supreme, visvim, Louis Vuitton, Rolex, Carhartt WIP and others. Among the more familiar faces featured, is also Chris Gibbs from Union LA.

Louis Vuitton / Marc Jacobs Book by Rizzoli

Louis Vuitton / Marc Jacobs Book by Rizzoli

Today we take a look inside the upcoming Louis Vuitt / Marc Jacobs book by Rizzoli, the official publication releasing in conjunction with the current exhibition at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Paris. The book presents the roles two men have played in turning a small workshop in nineteenth-century Paris into one of the most successful and recognized brands in the world.

“Known for both craftsmanship and must-have high design, Louis Vuitton the luxury house was started by its eponymous founder in 1854. The first half of this publication traces the innovations by Vuitton, who turned the little-known guild profession of emballeur (packer) into the foremost luxury trunk maker in Paris, with a clientele that included in his lifetime the French nobility as well as the elite of a prosperous empire. Prime and never-before-seen examples of Vuitton’s craftsmanship, along with the fashion that went into them, are the highlights of these chapters. The second half of the book examines the role of Marc Jacobs as Louis Vuitton’s creative director (since 1997), who took the Louis Vuitton house into a new era with a series of collaborations with artists and designers—such as Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, and Stephen Sprouse—as well as designing a line of highly successful and desired clothing for the company.

By examining two divergent but often similar careers one hundred years apart, Louis Vuitton / Marc Jacobs is not only a layered study of the evolution of a luxury brand in the past 150 years but also a celebration of technical and design innovations in the new century.”

Written by Pamela Golbin, the curator of the exhibition, the book is coming to stores April 2012. Here below you can check out a video of curator Pamela Golbin takes fashion journalist Louise Roe to the tour of the ‘Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs’ exhibition, in display in Paris at the moment.

Musée des Arts Décoratifs Louis Vuitton Marc Jacobs Exhibition | Video

Its about perfection, innovation, and creativity…

While these pursues have served quite well for over a century, the 1997 appointment of Marc Jacobs as its Creative Director brought an updated edginess to the temple of luxury goods. From collaborations with Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, the late Stephen Sprouse to the hiring of Kim Jones, Jacobs tackled an unenviable task by retaining the traditions cemented first by Louis Vuitton himself back in 1854 while formulating the brand’s future. In a way to explore this unique partnership between two designers across generations, Les Arts Décoratifs Museum of Paris will be hosting “Louis Vuitton – . As explained by Chief Curator , the exhibition not only honors both men, but highlights the inexplicable bond of both to objects of beauty. “Louis Vuitton – ” will be on view at Les Arts Décoratifs starting today to September 16th, 2012.

Louis Vuitton 2012 Spring/Summer Collection Lookbook

The Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 lookbook showcases Designer Kim Jones’ debut collection for the vaunted Italian fashion house. The offering embodies the luxury that is often associated with the Vuitton name making use of recognizable plush brown and muted color palettes. The collection also features an assortment of expertly tailored menswear suits, slacks and overcoats that are befitting of the LV name while juxtaposing the more formal styles with a range of leisure “safari-chic” garb. The latter portion of the collection is devoted to a dusty, khaki-heavy and vintage aesthetic.
