MINI John Cooper Works GP

MINI John Cooper Works GP

8 minutes and 23 seconds, that was exactly how long it took the new MINI John Cooper Works GP to complete the notoriously difficult Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit in Germany. By far the sportiest MINI to date, the MINI John Cooper Works GP isn’t just a standard MINI with add-on aero kit. Instead, engineers at MIMI’s sub-brand John Cooper Works re-tuned brakes and suspensions by racing specs standards. Large front air dam, side skirts, and rear diffuser help to improve the aerodynamic flow.  To squeeze out every last drops of performance attributes, even seats on the back row were taken out. Limited to 2,000 units worldwide, for those interest, contact your local dealers on availability and method of purchase.

MINI Cooper Yachtsman | April Fools’ Day Prank…?

MINI Cooper Yachtsman | April Fools Day Prank…?

It’s a shame this year’s April’s Fool’s Day fell on a Sunday, because the pranks engineered by the marketers of some of our favorite brands warranted immediate attention, instead of being read about the following day. There was the press release announcing the launch of Virgin Volcanic, in which Richard Branson and Tom Hanks would embark on a journey to the center of the Earth, while YouTube introduced the YouTube Collection on DVD. For auto-related pranks, we tip our hats to MINI, who unveiled the Cooper Yachtsman, a “corner-carving crustacean that promises go-kart (boat) handling and a sensational combination of amphibious and landphibious performance on water.” It comes with a shark-resistant undercoating and will sprint from 0 to 60 in 6.6 seconds on land (2.4 minutes on water), with a top land-phibious speed of 141 mph. Customizable options include a klaxon that resembles the call of a sea lion, porpoise, sperm whale, dolphin, seagull or mallard duck, plus the choice of personalized under-hull messages, including recommended graphic options like “Suck eggs, Kracken” or “Mermaid Magnet.” Priced at $236,000, claims the vehicle will appear at the N.Y. International Auto Show in the Jacob Javits Center on April 4th. We remain dubious about the land-phibious vehicle.

MINI John Cooper Works Countryman – “Human Flight” Commercial | Video

MINI John Cooper Works Countryman Human Flight Commercial | Video

We previously showcased the 2013 MINI John Cooper Works Countryman, which has a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine generating 215 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. They’re by no means shabby numbers, but we’re not sure they’re good enough to enable flight, like this new commercial seems to suggest. The clip depicts the JCW Countryman hurtling through a desert landscape with a man in a wingsuit perched atop the roof. He lets go, and we see that a guide rope tethers him to the vehicle even as he becomes airborne. The , meanwhile, is rapidly approaching the edge of a cliff. We’ll let you see for yourself how this cliffhanger (pun definitely intended) unfolds by viewing the video below.

MINI John Cooper Works Countryman

MINI John Cooper Works Countryman

The not-so- Mini, the Countryman crossover, will at last debut a John Cooper Works edition — the brand’s performance label — at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The JCW Countryman is equipped with Mini’s all-wheel-drive system, known as ALL4, and features a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with direct injection and variable valve control system, good for 215 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque (or 221 lb-ft with overboost function). With a six-speed manual gearbox (automatic optionally available), the vehicles sprints from 0 to 62 mph in 7.0 seconds. Other features include a sports tuned suspension, sports exhaust system, aero kit and larger 18-inch alloy wheels. Click through for more images in the gallery below. via: Carscoop

Mini Clubvan Concept

Mini Clubvan Concept

Mini presents the Clubvan Concept, a panel van that features two seats up front, backed by a stainless steel wire cage partition and on the other side a closed-off load area. Essentially, the vehicle combines the driving experience with increased load carrying capability — a hybrid plus van, but definitely not a minivan. The load area extends from the rear double doors right up to the partition grille and contains a totally level floor, maximizing the full interior depth of the space. The side walls and floor of the load compartment, meanwhile, are trimmed with anthracite-colored cloth, suggesting a vehicle meant for refined use versus industrial needs. In fact, recommends the Clubvan Concept for a fashion designer, art gallery owner or catering service. It’s scheduled to make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. via: Autoblog

MINI Clubvan Concept

MINI Clubvan Concept

Soccer moms and current Honda Odyssey-driving dads rejoice! The latest offering from British-founded car manufacturer MINI sees the automotive designers taking strides to enter into the van market with the latest concept that is being dubbed the “Clubvan.” Slated to make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 2012, MINI is touting the sliding door model as less of a family-focused vehicle and more of a functional and spacious alternative for fashion designers, gallery owners, musicians, and other younger demographs in need of a roomy, passenger friendly model. Accessibility is what is most notable about the concept given its dual doors at the rear, dual front driver and passenger doors and van-like sliding doors along both left and right sides. Taking design elements from the Clubman while incorporating the increased space capacity of the Countryman, only time will tell if the MINI “Clubvan” concept can eschew the stigma that often surrounds operating a traditional minivan.

Cop This Look: Zoë Kravitz

cop this look zoe kravitz leather dress

Zoë Kravitz, daughter of bohemian beauty Lisa Bonet and rock star Lenny Kravitz, is naturally quite the trendsetter. Her innately cool sense of style is definitely an inspiration for me. Recently she was spotted at an event looking super chic in an Alexander Wang mini leather shift dress and sleek pointy pumps. This outfit is so effortless but edgy and glamorous at the same time which makes it totally memorable. No wonder why she has hot boyfriend Penn Badgely by her side and tons of acting and modeling projects coming up! As soon as this leather-look dress by Evil Twin hit the site it reminded me of her flawless ensemble.  Learn how to get her look:

X-raid x Monster Energy x MINI ALL4 Racing – 2012 Dakar Rally Champions

X raid x Monster Energy x MINI ALL4 Racing 2012 Dakar Rally Champions

Often called “world’s deadliest off-road race”, the courses on Dakar Rally are equally stunning and unforgiving. But the rally also serves as a real-world test track for vehicles, especially those not known to have off-road capabilities such as the MINI. Thanks to Germany’s X-raid racing team and sponsor Monster Energy, the ALL4 Racing entered this month’s 2012 Dakar Rally with high hopes. Four teams in total, including nine-time winner Stéphane Peterhansel, his co-driver Jean-Paul Cottret, who has three Dakar wins of his own, and Michel Perin, another triple Dakar winner. Pairing with each team was candy-color coated MINI ALL4 Racing, a converted MINI Countryman. Predominately made of weight saving carbon fiber and powered by a twin-turbo diesel engine, the MINI ALL4 Racing is able to generate 315-horsepower with a top speed of 180km/h or 112 mph. Though not as fast as its racetrack going cousins, the MINI ALL4 Racing was made to be equally durable and speedy at the same time. While it is roughly 5% larger in volume, most of the room is taken up by full-sized spare tires, steel roll cage, and shock absorption system. A carbon fiber cockpit includes all essential data at the ready with a bare minimal design to prevent information overload. Thanks to attention to details like these, Stéphane Peterhansel and Jean-Paul Cottre were able to edged out against the competition and took home another Dakar Rally Car Category title at this year’s race.
