New Balance – May 2012 Releases

New Balance May 2012 Releases

This month’s releases from New Balance comprise a twosome of made-in-USA styles made up of the always popular 1300 and 998, as well as the low-profile 420 in a blue or red colorway. The 998 and ENCAP-equipped 1300 are both dressed in an upper constructed from a combination of suede and mesh in an attractive denim blue colorway and finished with a grey heel panel — suede on the 1300, nubuck on the 998. Both styles of the retro 420 runner have a lightweight nylon build with suede overlay and feature an EVA foam midsole and solid rubber outsole. All four pairs are in stock now at KITH stores and online.

‘It’s New Balance Time, Again’ by Darcel Disappoints

New Balance by Darcel Its New Balance Time, Again by Darcel Disappoints

Young New York based artist Darcel Disappoints has come up with this piece titled ‘It’s New Balance Time, Again’. The multicolored shoe on show bearing the New Balance’s famous ‘N’ motif is rather reminiscent to the brand’s Sneakerstuff and Milkcrate Athletics 577 from not so long ago. Obviously not the same make-up, but inspired to say the least.

New Balance 576 – Flimby Factory 30th Anniversary Pack

New Balance 576 Flimby Factory 30th Anniversary Pack

Nike Sportswear’s Air Force 1 30th anniversary seems to be slightly slowing as we approach the Olympic summer as well as the Air Max 1 and Air Safari birthdays.  Elsewhere in the sneaker birthday world, New Balance continues following their own deliberate pace, steadily moving forward as we approach the release of a drop commemorating three decades of attention to detail at their UK factories.  The New Balance 576 will release in three colorways later this year designed by workers at the Flimby, England, manufacturing plant, their wordy tongue tags dictating that if we were to label these like some of their other products, they’d come with a ’30 Years of Manufacture in the UK’ nickname.  Maybe the ‘Excellence Makers’ tag NB used for an earlier video that showed Andy Mandle, Billy Edgar and Roy Bell’s SMUs would be the most appropriate title, but the understated designs on this trio suggest that kind of detail isn’t as important as the craftsmanship that went into them.  Let us know which is your favorite ‘Made in UK’ New Balance after you click through for more photos, and stick with Sneaker News to see when these make it across the Atlantic.  via HS

Ronnie Fieg x New Balance 999 “Steel Blue”

Ronnie Fieg x New Balance 999 “Steel Blue”

There is little doubt that the forthcoming New Balance 999 shoe created in collaboration with Ronnie Fieg will be the label’s most notable release this year. The “Steel Blue” is a subtle homage, and a modern rendition of the 1984 New Balance 1300CL — Fieg’s all-time favorite shoe. The new 999 is constructed from a blend of premium suede and pigskin leathers, arriving in a handsome steely blue colorway, and finished with contrasting laces and an unassuming sockliner. Slated for a release later this year, Steel Blue 999 will be launched alongside a separate Kith and New Balance collaborative collection that will be initially available for the first 50 people in line at Fieg’s Kith Soho and Brooklyn stores. You can read more about the history, and unique backstory of the iconic 1300CL below.
