Chinese zodiac certainly grabbed most of the headline recently since this year is the all-important Year of the Dragon. Not to be completely relegated to the sideline, cap maker New Era introduced the Zodiac Collection for its ubiquitous 59FIFTY Fitted Caps. Distinguishable by the oversize astrological symbol embroidered in white, each of the black wool cap also features a constellation marking on the right panel and the astrological sign’s designation on the back. Available only through New Era Japan at this time, though with the collection’s popularity, we foresee its general release in the near future. via: ZOZOTOWN

Lafayette x New Era LF Logo 9FIFTY Snapback Caps

For the Spring/Summer season Yokohama based retail store and streetwear brand Lafayette has created three colorways of their classic LF Logo design with New Era. Rather than choosing the 59FIFTY style, they have decided to utilize the 9FIFTY snapback caps. These caps borrow its color schemes from vintage athletic teams and are available in gray/burgundy, orange/navy, and black on black. LF logo is embroidered in 3D on the front in contrasting stitches, apart from the all black version, and script logo is placed above the plastic adjuster. Drop by the Lafayette store in Japan to pick up these items or head over to their online shop.

New Era 9FIFTY Snapback Caps Tonal PackBy now you would have thought that New Era may have run out of ideas for different color combination for its caps. Apparently not, the designers at New Era came up with this new Tonal Pack for their popular 9FIFTY snapback caps and there are eight teams, from NBA and MLB, to choose from. What all of the caps have in common is the tone-on-tone embroidery on the front with contrasting colored New Era logo embroidery, top button, and under visor. These caps should be available at most New Era accounts, or head over to Amazingstore online shop in Tokyo who will be happy to ship them overseas.

New Era Japan Waterproof Nylon Headwear

New Era Japan releases a couple of waterproof caps for Spring/Summer 2012. Coming in the form of the brand’s Explorer and WM-01 styles, each piece of headwear comes in waterproof nylon with a Navy/Pale Green/Blue colorway. Retailing for ¥5,670 JPY (approximately $70 USD) and ¥5,250 JPY (approximately $65 USD), respectively, the waterproof iterations of both the Explorer and WM-01 are now available from New Era Japan’s web store.

Meant to post this earlier but I slacked. For those that ain’t learnt, Chicago has got a little bit of inner turmoil. There is not much love between Cubs and White Sox fans. This video of Nick Offerman and Craig Robinson by New Era is some good stuff and can give some insight into our not seeing eye to eye, hahaha. Craig did go a bit too far tho, I can’t wait for the other rounds. ***cough***2005***cough***

Japanese retailer Kinetics dropped a leopard fur adidas Superstar 80s shoe earlier this year and it looks as if they’re not done with the popular print. This time around they work with New Era on a couple of different snapback caps bearing the animal print; one version comes with it on the bill while the other features it all over the main part of the cap. You can pick these up at Zozo now.

The dangerously funny and now defunct Jackass raised more than few eyebrows in its three season existence on MTV. Even with the controversies and scenes too painful to laugh at times, the show garnered cult status before its closure. For die hard fans, these special collection of caps made by New Era may be a good way to remember the glory days of Jackass. Known for their extensive New Era cap selection, New York City staple Frank’s Chop Shop is offering a collection of Snapback Caps for the upcoming season featuring familiar shop imagery, with the brand’s straight razor making a prominent role. Each of their designs are built on ’s 9Fifty snapback cap and include your choice of the Chop Shop Clock in black, the Chop Shop Razor in a grey, black, or grey tweed, or “Chop Shop” in black/gold or black/grey. Frank’s Chop Shop’s signature Ben Franklin iconography is also on display on the side panel as well as a quote from the Founding Father underneath the bill stitched in gold. Each of these snapbacks are available now at Japan’s CAP COLLECTOR ONE.
