For better or worse, 2012 was a defining year for the sneaker world and all that it encompasses. It was a year that saw certain shoes throw the laws of supply and demand so out of whack, that brands and retailers had to completely rethink the way they sell shoes to the public just to keep the peace. If you were willing to put in some legwork or, better yet, had the right connections, it was a banner year for sneaker enthusiasts. “Must-have” releases seemed to be at an all-time high and nearly every weekend offered up some sort of temptation for consumers. 2012 saw the release of some of the most eagerly anticipated and passionately sought-after sneakers the game had ever seen and it’s safe to say that things will never be the same again.
In between those, there were plenty of other desirable targets along the way, from the special limited editions and collaborations to beloved Retro returns and promising new designs and innovations. There were even a few certified sleeper hits that organically carved out their place among the year’s best releases. Due to an exponentially expanding consumer base and a heightened level of product awareness, you might not have been able to get your hands on every shoe you hunted for in 2012, but there was certainly no shortage of solid alternatives ripe for the picking in their absence.

Wouldn’t it have been nice to see a “What the Lebron” 9 after being teased with the “What the” Versions of the KD IV and Kobe 7?! Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing these joints release anytime soon or in the near future but if you have the guap now, spoil yourself this Holiday season with a pair. Those wanting to cop, You Can Buy them Now

There’s a reason why the hottest sneaker detail out right now is indeed the glow-in-the-dark outsoles and uppers. It’s synonymous with one of the best sneaker releases of the year and the fact that Nike’s used it so sparingly makes it all the more desirable. While ‘Glow’ hasn’t been as common as we’d like, sneaker customizers have gone ham with it, as seen here with AF1King’s ‘Spaceman’ customs of the LeBron 9. He opts for full Glow on the outsole, laces, Swoosh, and even on the speckling on the upper to create that starry night sky appeal. A gallery awaits you below, but head to his online shop to get ‘em on your feet.

These Swin Cash PEs? Money. Check out this LeBron 9 made for women’s basketball superstar and Nike Sportswear icon Swin Cash; the blue/yellow colorway might throw hints at a rehash of the famous ‘Entourage’ colorway, but it’s actually colormatched to adjoin with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky, which Swin plays for. Swin was also a member of the Gold Medal-winning USA Womens Basketball team this past Olympics in London, which adds to her already expansive trophy case! A gallery of this amazing Player Exclusive is right ahead, so take a look and see what the asking price is for this size 13 sample from kidlebron on eBay.
