NOOKA App A New Way To Look At Time

The Nooka app takes something that’s prosaic and makes it engaging. Simply put, it’s a new way to look at time, featuring three face designs in which the hour is marked by a colored shape, either arranged in a circular form or into discrete rows of pill-like forms, while minutes and seconds are arrayed underneath as two lit-up linear graphs running underneath. Color choices are vast and can be custom designed by the user. The app includes a world clock, stop watch and timer, all of which can be viewed using the different faces. It’s a fresh approach to conveying time, and for children, a more intuitive way to grasp the concept. The app is available now through iTunes. Click through for a video demonstration.

Founded by artist Matthew Waldman, New York fashion design company Nooka has become known for its sleek, monochromatic watch designs. Hoping to add another piece to its growing stable of timekeeping products, Nooka has just designed this wall clock that incorporates the same signature display face used on its popular line of watches. With an automatic or motion activated electroluminescent backlight, a 9×9 aluminum body and a 32,768 Hertz quartz crystal oscillation frequency, the clock can go into production with the help of donations and contributions made through the Nooka website.

Nooka presents their latest limited edition offering – the Glowessent Collection. Several of their products, including a watch, wallet and sunglasses, have been given the glow in the dark treatment.

Nooka x Red Bull BC1 B-Boy Collab

On November 18th (today), Nooka will sponsor the 2009 Red Bull BC One, the world’s biggest one-on-one b-boy competition, at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. Sixteen of the globe’s best dancers will compete head-to-head to determine who will be the ONE crowned Red Bull BC One 2009 Champion. As sponsors of the event, Nooka has custom designed a limited black Zub watch for each of the competitors. The timepiece features an NYC-inspired print, and is limited to 16 pieces.
