Puma Monster Pack

Puma Monster Pack

Puma recently released their “Monster Pack” at retailers worldwide, a celebration of Japan’s most prominent cinematic monsters. The Puma First Round Mid draws from the metallic Mecha King lizard; the reissue features a shiny silver upper and jeweled red accents. The misunderstood King Kong inspires the Puma Mid. The shoe’s all-black uppper is interspersed with slits that feature silky red underlays, while “gorilla hair” lines the heel panel and premium leather sets off the toebox and stripe. The German brand’s classic Clyde model is toned in a vibrant beige/powder blue/navy/red/yellow color scheme to match the Moth King, an aerial villain that had laser beams for eyeballs. The Clyde’s toebox is finished off by artificial moth hair. The Stepper is emboldened by the Terror King, a dual-headed monstrosity that’s similar to Scotland’s iconic “Nessy”. As such, the shoe’s upper is animated by a glossy brown snake print and inscribed details of the monster. Rounding out the pack is the First Round Lizoid King, (You see what I did right thur? Ehhh…) a shoe defined by a purple-green faux snakeprint upper, lucid red Puma stripe and teeth detailing around the ankle collar.

Diamond Supply Co. and DVS Shoes are definitely two huge forces in today’s skate and streetwear communities, and their combined talents have produced some pretty sick gear with this VVS Pack.  With a great color palette in use here, the contents of this pack are definitely worthy of both names backing them.  With a New Era fitted cap, varsity jacket, pair of DVS Daytons, and clean collaboratively branded tee, this pack definitely has a little something for everyone; the overall aesthetic is definitely well thought out and designed.  The pack will be dropping in its entirety at the Diamond Supply Fairfax store on Saturday, Feb. 7th, so don’t sleep!  Thanks to Tonytone and Nick from Diamond Supply for the heads up.

Nike Air Force 1 Spring 09 Elephant Print Pack & More

For the Spring 2009 Season, we’ve already seen plenty of previews from Nike Sportswear and now it’s time to showcase the shoe that most sneakerheads anticipate the most, the Air Force 1. For the Spring and Summer 2009 Collections, Nike Sportswear Creative Director, Richard Clarke, said this “For the launch of Nike Sportswear we looked at the Beijing games and derived inspiration from that. This Season, we took ACG and its 20th anniversary as a driving force for the creative direction.”

The design team that worked on the Air Force 1 looked to the Elephant Print created by Tinker Hatfield, as a key point of inspiration for the Spring Supreme, Premium, and even In-Line Air Force 1’s. “This season we went back to iconic prints as only Nike can do, but adding that Sportswear innovation, fusing the AF1 with a meticulously crafted laser etched Elephant print puts this AF1 into a class all its own”, said Jesse Leyva, Nike Global Design Director. Some additional features on the entire collection of Air Force 1’s for Spring 2009 include an interior gloriously re-engineered in supple leather; smooth, rolled edges and flush seaming for superior comfort as well as a polished deubré as a finishing touch.
