WeSC x The Standard Hotel Capsule Collection

The Standard Hotels and WeSC know a thing or 2 about traveling in style: one is a premier boutique hotel group catering to the trendy and fabulous, the other is a lifestyle brand with international clout. Clearly the Standard Culture appeals to WeSC Activists given the design and art sensibilities of both entities. To commemorate a capsule collection, WeSC artists including Cheryl Dunn, Giovanni Reda, Steed Lord, Beth Riesgraf and FriendsWithYou compiled short films for each of the Standard Hotel locations.

The collab consists of luggage tags, wallets, phone cases, and passport holders in solid leather, assigning colorways according to the cities that The Standard calls home (New York, Downtown LA, Hollywood, and Miami). Finally, the cherry on top is a set of headphones to drown out those crying babies and rowdy frat boys on your flight.

Shop the collection for a post-holiday gift to yourself (wouldn’t it be nice to plan a weekend getaway with your tax return?)! To delve further into the collaboration, check out the videos below and head over to WeSCpedia for the full breakdown.

Roundup: Bags for Every Holiday Event

The end of each year brings plenty of festive fun to aid in unwinding from the stress of gift hunting, long hours at work, and encounters with long lost family members. We strongly believe that getting ready for holiday fetes should be an exciting process full of frills but little fuss. In a crowded room do you really want to be caught with a bulky bag, bumping into everyone, and maybe spilling your drink on a coworker, friend, or worse — your boss? Luckily there is an abundance of small, easy to carry bag choices to make… and in all seriousness… picking just one might prove quite challenging.

For a formal cocktail setting — even black tie — Betsey Johnson has you covered with her gem-adorned Stone Cross Body bag and the super plush Evening BowTiful Velvet Clutch in a spicy seasonal red color (I’m especially taken by the gunmetal snake chain strap!). And leave it to Mr. Downtown Cool himself, Jeffrey Campbell, to design a fringey, boho-glam purse: the peachy pink metallic and suede Tyler Bag. Lastly, Mata Hari wowed us this winter with their blogger collection, but a big standout includes a standby LoveMade Fanny Bag collab for the gals who desire hands-free accessories with a rich tweed and edgy chain strap. And for the ultra minimalist ladies out there (like me), the brand’s Tayla iPhone Pouch carries the bare necessities: your phone, cash and ID, and a lipgloss.

Tell us — If we run into you on the party circuit, which of these stunners can we expect to see on your shoulder?

Aesir Copenhagen x Yves Béhar Phone

In collaboration with designer Yves Béhar, Copenhagen-based Aesir is releasing a headset design with both visual appeal and functional tactility. The +YvesBéhar phone focuses on the idea of voice, clarity and simplicity but also places value on a unique user interface while championing the idea of craftsmanship. Boasting two different designs that feature wraparound ceramic uppers and a sapphire crystal lens, the headset is available in either 18K gold for €42,000 (approximately $58,665 USD) or 316L stainless steel for €7,250 (approximately $10,120 USD).
