Junya Watanabe COMME des GARÇONS MAN x Levis 1966 JWXX Jeans

Each season, COMME des GARÇONS designer Junya Watanabe teams up with Levi’s for a collaboration , and this season is no exception. A vintage pair of jeans from 1966 was selected for their collaboration, heavily customized to visually translate the season’s work theme. Over-sized reinforcements on the thigh and knee areas create a totally unique aesthetic, coupled with large pockets on the upper thighs. Rear pockets have been moved slightly outwards, and in its place are hickory fabric juxtaposed by the raw denim underneath. These jeans can be picked up at HAVEN retail store and online shop at the moment.

Creative Recreation Antonello – Fall 2012 | Preview

Creative Recreation Antonello Fall 2012 | Preview

On one hand, its design went with a fashionable approach. On the other, it kept inline with an utilitarian execution. The result, the new Creative Recreation Antonello. First previewed at last week’s PROJECT New York trade show, the Antonello features a ballistic nylon upper inter-meshed with supple tumbled leather. While there are obvious influences from mountaineering footwear, such as D-ring eyelets and padded ankle collar, the Antonello still retains a hint of running/lifestyle design like its articulated EVA sole. Part of ’s Fall 2012 Collection, expect the Antonello to drop right after summer.

Marcus Tremonto x Nike Snowboarding – “Box & Rocket” Zoom Force 1 | Nike Shoeshine Project 2012

Marcus Tremonto x Nike Snowboarding – “Box & Rocket” Zoom Force 1 | Nike Shoeshine Project 2012

In an effort to bring together both cultural relevancy and design of sneakers, Nike created “White Dunk” exhibit in 2004 where an exclusive selection of Japanese artists freely reinterpreted the Dunk into otherworldly creation of art. Fast forward 8 years later, the “White Dunk” now gives way to the Nike Shoeshine 2012 for Nike Snowboarding. But similar to its predecessor, the premise of the Nike Shoeshine Project is also to bridge the cultural relativity and sneakers, or in this case, snowboarding boots. Just as in the golden creation done by Osamu Koyama and his firm Complete Technique, artist Marcus Tremonto fashioned his through the craft of light and optical illusion. Founder of creative studio TRELUCE in New York City, Tremonto approached his pair of Nike Zoom Force 1 with a futuristic perception of sports. Influenced by Gundam, James Bond, and sci-fi, Tremonto retraced the concept of speed and strength with “Box Boot” and “Rocket Boot”. On first glance, the two cartoonish designs appear to be clever post-production illustration on photo. However, the pieces are quite real, each handmade with custom graphics on electroluminescent paper. Part of the , a traveling art exhibition that will visit Munich, Germany in the coming months.

PROJECT Show New York – LEXDRAY: London Garment Bag – Fall 2012

PROJECT Show New York – LEXDRAY: London Garment Bag – Fall 2012

Unassuming in appearance, a new product from LEXDRAY and designer might just change the way we utilize our luggage, specifically our garment bags. Intended to keep clothing clean and wrinkle-free, garment bag’s flimsy construct often leads to just the opposite. Drayer’s solution is to create a modular system and do away with the infirm design. No bigger than a medium sized duffel bag (and shaped like one too), the London Garment Bag unfurls into two separate components, a garment bag and a hangable organizer. Supported by two reinforced hook, the organizer can go onto closet or the closet’s door. Folded shirts, coats, accessories, even a pair of Air Jordans can be tuck away neatly. Fold with the garment bag and the organizer becomes a rigid duffel bag, protecting its contents from the elements and unsightly crease. Each part can be use as a stand alone carrier as well.

PROJECT Show New York – Made by Project: Barbour – How Do You Re-Waterproof Your Waxed Cotton Jacket?

PROJECT Show New York Made by Project: Barbour How Do You Re Waterproof Your Waxed Cotton Jacket?

A conceptual pop-up store within the PROJECT Show New York is Made by , where show’s organizer select artisans of various backgrounds to showcase their skill sets. For this year’s trade show, asked Barbour of England to demonstrate the art of “re-proofing” the iconic waxed cotton outerwear. While on a smaller scale, the methodology been the same since ’s establishment. On a “heating table”, a metallic platform with heating elements, the process starts with the outerwear “steady cooking” to 100 degrees. According to Specialist Keith Broadley, this “opens” the cotton twill fabric. Then, apply liquified wax generously onto the item and wipe off the excess wax. Though proprietary, Broadley hinted the wax is mainly made of bee wax. In half an hour or so, the outerwear has a new lease on life and ready to battle the elements again. As for when to re-wax your , the company suggest to do so after the first 3 years of wear. In the meantime, will re-proof your outerwear at PROJECT. Simply drop it off at the booth on the first floor.
