Kendrick Lamar Hits the Studio w/ Q-Tip

Earlier today, Q-Tip took updated his Facebook with “In the lab w/ Kendrick Lamar. Wooof!”. And while I know a lot of folks are excited to hear what Kendrick and Pharrell cooked up, this right here is the shit that has me amped. Hopefully we get to hear the outcome soon..
Kendrick Lamar & Pharrell Williams collectively recorded six songs
As previously indicated, Kendrick Lamar is currently busy crafting his upcoming debut album. On that note, we also reported that the Compton native has also spent some serious studio time with Pharrell Williams. In a recent interview with Billboard, he opened up on the collaboration with Skateboard and further revealed the possibility of recording with Q-Tip in the near future.
“Pharrell really does this music like this is his first time in the studio. He still got that hunger. He’s one of the producers that pulls out his keyboard and pulls up the session and make a crazy beat right front of you. We knocked out six records in two days. Just by off the vibin’ [and] creating from scratch. To hear all the music that he’s making and reminisce all the music that I love to listen to, he’s making it right in front of me now is a crazy feeling.
Regarding working with Q-Tip he said:
“We ain’t lock in on the music side yet. Sometimes its best to feel the energy first before you go in the lab with a person.”

Celebrity Feet: Q-Tip & Fat Joe @ QREAM Launch Event

QREAM, Pharell 's new line of cream liquers, officially launched late last week in Miami with a star-studded launch party. Including Pharrell, the notable guests were hip-hop artists Fat Joe and Q-Tip, both of whom wore some notable sneakers to the cheery event. Fat Joe (who isn't looking as fat these days) wore the Air Jordan III Black/Cement, although the few glimpses we caught weren't enough to determine which release they were, and Q-Tip match his 'A Tribe Called Quest' tank-top with the Air Jordan Spiz'ike in the Black/Green/Red/White colorway - one of the original colorways of the Air Jordan Spiz'ike. Check out both noted celebrity sneakerheads after the jump and let us know who rocked the better kicks!

Q-Tip, Janelle Monae & The Cool Kids
Studio 43 along with Kenny Burns put together a smorgasbord of content from the Q-Tip concert ft. J.Monae & TCK down in Atlanta. With backstage talk from the personalities such as DJ Drama, Don Cannon, and Common. Video also features concert footage, songs, and some shout-outs. On another note Janelle Monae is major and needs to get an album out quick. Q-Tip is not on tour at the moment but be on the look out he may pop up at a local venue near you.
Q-Tip feat. Norah Jones – Life Is Better
Norah Jones seems to have allot of fans in the Hip hop world considering how many songs I’ve heard her on from prominent MCs (Andre 3000 & Kweli come to mind). Add Q-Tip to that ever growing group as he features her throaty Jazz vocals to his joint entitled “Life Is Better” from his upcoming album The Renaissance. The track is as smooth and mellow as you expected as it would be. Early reviews are stating that Tip’s new album is as good as anything he’s ever done.

Q-Tip’s Renaissance, Drops Early Due to Consumer Demand
Q-Tip’s first Universal Motown album, The Renaissance, will be out in stores November 4, but is available now for digital download due to overwhelming consumer demand.
iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon MP3, Walmart MP3, MySpace, and Napster are all now selling the album.
“The online demand to hear the new Q-Tip album was so high that we worked with all of our digital retail partners to make the album available for purchase to their consumers before the planned street date,” Cameo Carlson, SVP of Digital Business Development for Universal Motown Republic Group, said. “We’re excited to be able to have the flexibility to respond so quickly to Tip’s fans and allow them the opportunity to purchase.”
The early release hasn’t stopped the former A Tribe Called Quest star from promoting though. The rap star recently did a 30-minute set for VH1 Soul’s “SoulStage,” set to air next week. Past “Soulstage” performers included Jill Scott, Raphael Saadiq, and Erykah Badu. Tip joked with the audience, extolled presidential nominee Obama, and performed old and new hits with a three-piece live band.
“VH1’s Soulstage: Q-Tip presented by Infiniti” will premiere November 3 at 9 p.m. eastern time.
