[Mixtape] TenDJiz: Q-Tipokratiya

Q-Tip

Miami’s TenDJiz won me over as a fan when he dropped the De La Soul meets Soviet Soul and Jazz project, De La Soulviet.  Today he releases his second Soviet Soul  meets American Hip Hop project in this new mix featuring Q-Tip vocals.  The mixtape is called Q-Tipokratiya, which combines Q-Tip’s name with the Greek word for “power.”  Check out the full mixtape below, and thank TenDJiz later for providing your morning soundtrack.

Q-Tip Speaks on G.O.O.D. Music Signing

Q-Tip

“It was good, pardon the pun.”

Q-Tip called into the Peter Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds radio show this morning to talk about his new deal with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music.  Tip talked about the natural chemistry that formed with Kanye, and that the deal started while he was working with Kanye on Watch The Throne and MDBTF.  Tip also mentioned that he will be on the G.O.O.D. compilation, as he has a song with 2 Chainz and Common, as well as one with Pusha T.  He also talks about his forthcoming LP, The Last Zulu and how the name stems from a recent DNA test.

Q-Tip Signs to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music

Kanye West continues to build out his already impressive G.O.O.D. Music line-up. Today it has been announced that Q-Tip has also signed with the label. Furthermore they have announced that his 4th studio album, The Last Zulu, will be released some time in 2013. Next to Q-Tip, the G.O.O.D. Music line-up includes Pusha T, Kid Cudi, John Legend, Big Sean and of course Kanye himself. Who knows, maybe Q-Tip was already involved in the G.O.O.D. Music Album that will release soon.

Kendrick Lamar & Pharrell Williams collectively recorded six songs

As previously indicated, Kendrick Lamar is currently busy crafting his upcoming debut album. On that note, we also reported that the Compton native has also spent some serious studio time with Pharrell Williams. In a recent interview with Billboard, he opened up on the collaboration with Skateboard and further revealed the possibility of recording with Q-Tip in the near future.

“Pharrell really does this music like this is his first time in the studio. He still got that hunger. He’s one of the producers that pulls out his keyboard and pulls up the session and make a crazy beat right front of you. We knocked out six records in two days. Just by off the vibin’ [and] creating from scratch. To hear all the music that he’s making and reminisce all the music that I love to listen to, he’s making it right in front of me now is a crazy feeling.

Regarding working with Q-Tip he said:

“We ain’t lock in on the music side yet. Sometimes its best to feel the energy first before you go in the lab with a person.”
