Supra Owen – New Images

Supra Owen New Images

Supra has so widely expanded their range of colorways and models over the past year or so that the only logical conclusion would be expanding beyond their skateboarding beginnings.  We got the earliest hints of this movement from the Crown brand’s boot offerings, and now their first non-skate athletic release offers a solution to the most fundamental sport.  The Supra Owen is a low-cut runner with a silhouette that’s somewhere between the Jordan CMFT 10 and one of Nike’s LunarLon drops, and though it might not have the technical advantages of the world’s leading running shoe manufacturers, the breathable and super-lightweight 9oz build all but guarantee a comfortable ride (especially for casual purposes).  Check out the first four colorways courtesy of early recipient Ben Baller, and stick with Sneaker News for updates on all the 2012 Supra sneakers.

Supra Passion

Supra Passion

Supra has attained the kind of success already in its short history that they’re already expanding into areas beyond their established skate and casual wheelhouse.  The upcoming Owen runner makes you wonder what kind of athlete the Crown brand would sign to be their endorsee when guys like Mike ‘Lizard King’ Plumb are counted among the label’s core skate group.  Lizard King’s been with Supra for a few years now, and his Bullet lowtop has done well enough that as the brand has grown, so has the reach of Plumb’s latest, the Supra Passion.  The Passion is a full-on midtop with a construction that curiously echoes Supra’s Henry boot, but with a vulcanized sole and a fairly ostentatious appearance in blue suede.  There’s also a simple black/white pair that just dropped, and you’ll find both of them available now straight from Supra.

Supra Vaider ‘Valentine’s Day’

Supra Vaider Valentines Day

Supra has become notorious over the past several months or so for its themed releases, but the romantic holiday coming up in a couple of weeks has been a source of inspiration for the Crown brand since 2010.  The ‘Heartbreaker’ Skytop was followed last year by the less obvious ‘Black Widow’ Society, but the muse is back to a more direct approach with the new Supra Vaider Mid ‘Valentine’s Day’ edition.  They’re done in red canvas TUF with gold detailing including a heart-and-arrow insignia that’s replicated on the black insoles.  Click through to get a better view of these V-Day details and pick up a pair at select Supra retailers like Solebox.

Supra Owen

Supra Owen

From borrowed colorways to pack releases and even a few leaked samples on eBay, Supra has adapted the script that works so well for Nike, Inc. to fit their brand’s skater slash rockstar image.  The new Supra Owen offers a nod toward the Swoosh’s LunarLon running efforts and coming on the heels of the Crown brand’s expansion into winterized boot offerings, suggests we could see further ventures into uncharted territory.  The Owen has a look to it that’s fairly unique and yet still somewhat familiar, something like a generic take on all the performance and casually oriented running silos out there on the market today.  Add to that a weight of only 200g for a stupendously light ride, and this is an intriguing effort for the spring that we hadn’t even known to expect.  Check out the first four colorways after the jump and let us know if these are good enough to crack your rotation of NSW, New Balance, Asics and other running standbys.  via Sneaker Freaker

Supra Owen

Supra Owen

has never been shy about their influences, frequently dipping into the DNA of other footwear brands for homage colorways as well as design elements here and there. So when the skate brand flips the script and puts together a running sneaker, you’d expect the inspiration to be evident. Such is not the case as the brand new Owen manages to stand on its own, a sleek runner with quite the minimalist look coming from a brand that has long boasted the highest of high-tops. It’s no slouch on the tech end either, coming with a super lightweight mesh/nylon upper and a EVA outsole. Follow us after the jump to get a better look at the Owen in all of its debut colorways. via Sneaker Freaker
