From the Desk of… Jon Paul Kaiser!

Today we’re excited to reveal a couple of images from the desk of Jon Paul Kaiser! Here’s where all of the magic happens, well the toy magic that is! And it’s no wonder this is where all of his toy designs have been hatched and where the majority of his custom work gets painted; with all of those toys staring back at him, he must be able to get some serious inspiration.

You’ll know JPK from his stark and striking black and white designs like Captain Sturnbrau (below) and his First Mate, Nathaniel Vigo, produced by Toy2R and part of the haunted galleon, The Whispering Corsair. Make sure to head over to the mph store to check out the Captain and more from JPK!

Scourge of the Captain of the dreaded floating hulk; The Whispering Corsair. For time immemorable, land-lubbers and sailors alike dare not speak the ship’s true name which slipped past memory and into legend.
For centuries the Captain had plied the oceans voyaging into new and undiscovered lands. They disappear for years at a time, only for stories to reach civilisation of raids on settlements and pitiless attacks on ships.
No-one knows what dark sorcery keeps Captain Sturnbrau and his unholy crew alive, only that they strive to fathom the answers to questions they have long forgotten…

Toy2R presents a preview of Jon-Paul Kaiser’s original 5″ figure – Captain Sturnbrau from the mysterious ship, The Whispering Corsair.

Jon-Paul has created a unique collection of Toy2R figures using the mythos of the Whispering Corsair to amass his crew. First fans were introduced to the Olaf the Mute (in 8″ Qee Bear form), then teasers of the the First Mate Nathaniel Vigo surfaced (in 5″ Mini Qee form), now to be followed by their leader, Captain Sturnbrau!

Expected for release at this year’s New York Comic Con, Toy2R unveiled the figure at the Grand Opening ceremony of the new Toy2R Shunde office in China. This is the first original production character for Jon-Paul and Toy2R is honored to have collaborated on this project. While there are even more projects being developed for JPK (The Forgotten and The Scribe Mini Qees), the Whispering Corsair collection is a wonderful tribute to the high seas and the mysterious that lie beneath the surface. Expect more surprises surrounding the Captain as the more information develops!

 

I can’t wait to see the painted figure as that’s the draw with JPK’s outstanding work.  Given that the toy has quite abit of detail in it already, it’ll be interesting to see how the black and white paint detail will be applied to the finished piece.

QEE To Happiness – Toy2R Contest

Starting today and running through May 27th you have the chance of scoring some FREE toys from Toy2R without leaving the comfort of your chair!

We have packed a plastic tub full of 2.5” Qees and all you have to do is guess exactly how many Qees are in the tub! The plastic tub measures 22” long x 15” wide x 6” deep. While you can pack a bunch of Qees in there…note that there are Qees of all characters from several years past (Bears, Eggs, Toyers, etc). Also, some are still in their original polybags…so you’ll have to call upon your best guessing skills.

Post your guess on the Toy2R USA Facebook Page and you’re entered – just that easy!

One entry per contestant – multiple guesses will not be accepted – so make sure to enter the best guess possible. To make the contest even more appealing – we will have TWO GRAND PRIZES – that means we can have two winners!!! In the event of a tie of more than two contestants, Toy2R will have a tie-breaker to determine the two winners. Winners will be announced on May 30st.

So with that…examine the image carefully and good luck, after all – it is Friday the 13th!

Daaamn, that’s alot of Qee!  I know I can’t enter (probably?) but I’m gonna take at guess right here of 236 Qee in the box.. I’m gonna be so gutted if I’m right :/


Kaiju Bossy Bear attacks in May!

Bossy Bear, the demanding character from the mind of David Horvath, has transmutated into the 5” Strange Beast Bossy Bear or as witnesses have dubbed him – Monster Bossy Bear! With an SRP of $20, your chances of catching one is good but act fast as there have been rumors of multiple versions as well as the Roseus (or Pink) version sighted.

Altering from his earlier form into a higher state – that of the Kaiju form – Bossy Bear is now more formidable than ever. As part of Toy2R’s scheduled releases for 2011, the Monster Bossy Bear Assortment will delight fans of both the classic form and new fans of his Kaiju inspired look.

Two versions will be released in the assortment – the Classic Blue and the Roseus (or Pink) edition. Fans should be on the look out for variant versions within the assortment as one can never be sure what mood Bossy will be in.

Never really collected much David Horvath/Uglydoll stuff but I really can’t wait for these to drop.  An awesome mashup of western vinyl and kaiju and I look forward to future kaiju figures and colourways, maybe some GID or transprency would be nice ;)


Dark Horse x Toy2R – C2E2 Exclusive Domo Qee

HAWAII CHROME DOMO

Dark Horse has announced a special chrome Hawaii Domo Qee to be exclusively released at the first Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2)  in their booth (4.16 – 4.18).  Limited to 1200 pieces, this new Domo Qee from Toy2R will follow closely on the heels of the release of the Domo Qee S2 minis (3.31).  He’s shiny and ready for the Luau. Who’s game?

ODM x Toy2R Qee Watch Collection

ODM x Toy2R Qee Watch Collection

O.D.M. and Toy2R have joined forces to release a new collection of watches. Together they presenting the Qee Collection featuring colorful watchbands and pendant timepieces. While each watch sports artwork inspired by Qee, there’s also the new 2.5″ O.D.M. Qee toy available.

The collection is being launched through various Hong Kong retailers like Silvercord, LCX and SOGO and will be featured throughout more than 160 fine boutiques in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, France and Italy.

Toy2R x FnC Kolon 1st Force Sneaker and Qee Set

I like leaving you readers for the weekend with sneaker/toy sets. The last one was those DC x UNKL Double Label™ Graph and SUG packs back in January. Here’s something new:  FnC KOLON has released a  line of sneakers called 1st Force that comes packaged with a matching 2.5-inch Qee by Toy2R. Larger 8-inch Qees will be used for promoting the brand in stores as well as being including in the marketing and signage materials. The main concept of the kicks centers upon the four elemental forces of nature:  Earth, Lighting, Storm and Tornado – each featuring a powerful and energetic image.
