Japanese designer Jun Takahashi presents his new Undercover Fall/Winter 2012 Collection. Entitled ‘Psycho Color’, the collection looks better than ever. The designer used more color than usual and we really like the direction he took. A fantastic mix of materials, colors and silhouettes is featured in the collection. The line is different from anything else we have seen, very unique and innovative, nicely displaying the various influences of the designer in one look. The only thing we have to complain about, is the wait time until the line hits stores.

Courtesy of Jun Takahashi’s Undercoverism, a simple unlined cotton canvas sneaker with classic vulcanized rubber sole construction. Details on the no-fuss design include a white rubber toe cap, metal eyelets, black foxing stripe and a subtle allover pattern on the canvas upper. Branding is strictly limited to the sockliner and heel badge. A textured toe bumper offers added durability, while the rubber outsole provides increased traction and durability. UNDERCOVER Canvas Sneaker Spring/Summer 2012

Jun Takahashi and his Japanese label UNDERCOVER have built a name for themselves creating apparel and footwear with a level of distinction that has some of the world’s biggest brands itching for a collab. This time, UNDERCOVER releases an independently produced low-top sneaker featuring a printed cotton upper with canvas lining sitting atop a vulcanized rubber sole with a capped toe. This custom-made silhouette comes in an off-white or Navy colorway, which will make them a welcome addition to any summer time outing. Undercover designer Jun Takahashi has never been shy of expressing his thoughts through his clothing, and his latest boot creation is no exception. Aggressively titled “Fuck the Past, Fuck the Future” and embroidered into each heel, the boot features additional clever details such as a lace-less silhouette, pull tabs at the cuff, contrast stitching, and a tri-tone Vibram sole. The footwear comes in both black and ash brown colorways and is available now at ZOZOVILLA for a domestic retail price of ¥68,250 JPY (approximately $827 USD).

Customers can be seen walking into the Dover Street Market Ginza and if you have yet to step foot into the huge retail complex, we have detailed photos of the shop fit-out to satisfy your curiosity. The six story high building houses the progressive brands from high fashion, streetwear, menswear, womenswear, and of course the whole COMME des GARÇONS range under one roof. Each floor starts as a white blank canvas, where the participating brands have built their own small fit-out, similar to the Dover Street Market in London but on a much larger scale. Conceptualized and directed by the enigmatic Rei Kawakubo, the Dover Street Market Ginza offers retail experience like no other in the world. Take a closer look at each floor after the jump.

UNDERCOVER x UNIQLO – UU Spring/Summer 2012 Collection Lookbook | Behind The Scenes Look

Getting things right the first time around is no small feat in itself. But given the magnitude of this particular collaboration and as a follow-up to the Jil Sander’s wildly successful +J Collection, designer Jun Takahashi couldn’t leave anything to chance. Shot in a massive sound stage instead of the typical photo studio, Takahashi oversaw all aspects of the Spring/Summer 2012 Lookbook for UU Collection, the new collaboration between his UNDERCOVER brand and apparel giant UNIQLO. With a penchant for details, Takahashi not only was the lead stylist on set, but a temporary wrangler for the child models also. To really facilitate the sense of storytelling and “Family”, the lookbook’s central theme. All props were made from scratch, including some of the giant backdrops. As for the clothing themselves, all will be reveal on March 16th when the UU Collection first drop becomes available at select UNIQLO retail locations.

Nike x UNDERCOVER Gyakusou Spring 2012 Collection | Behind The Scenes Video

A new behind-the-scenes short film showcases interviews with the principals from the Nike x Undercover Gyakusou Spring 2012 collection, as well as the attendant campaign video. Director Tetuya Nagato describes how he proposed the concept of Yin and Yang to reflect the addition of a women’s collection for spring, while photographer Katsuhide Morimoto explains the contrast of the white Nakatajima desert versus the black sands of Oshima to further illustrate the theme. Designer Jun Takahashi points out the subdued colors for the collection, conveying a more fall/winter feel as opposed to the bright colors of last year’s spring collection. He goes on to highlight a few key items, noting the emphasis of the Gyakusou logo this time around. Check out the video following the click.

The ongoing collaboration between Jun Takahashi’s UNDERCOVER and Nike sees its Spring/Summer 2012 GYAKUSOU installment come full circle with the introduction of its latest short campaign video. Shortly after the unveiling of the seasonal footwear range, the label continues its fusion of innovation, function and aesthetics via a carefully executed assortment of footwear and technical training and running apparel. For the Spring/Summer collection, Takahashi made use of traditional “Yin & Yang” philosophies to compile the synergy of many elements that furnish an level of cohesion to the line.

The release of the uniqlo undercover Spring/Summer 2012 Collection is only a few weeks away and we can finally give you a full preview of the men’s items that will go on sale on March 16th, 2012, around the globe. We already previewed a few items and the full lookbook.

Next to some nice outerwear pieces, with the biker jacket certainly being the stand-out item, Jun Takahashi presents a nice line-up of mostly basic items in his usually muted and unique color palette. From hoodies, crewneck sweaters to knit cardigans, pants, blazers and jackets, the collection offers a nice complete look in the trademark undercover style. In terms of accessories the collection offers a scarf, cap and tote bag.
