Record Store Day Presents RPM Series by Frank Kozik

Record Store Day is proud to introduce it’s very own designer toy! Indie record stores are proud to introduce the new vinyl series designed by Frank Kozik, RPM. Being a previous record company owner and one of the most recognizable toy artists today, Frank was honored to partake in this project. Kozik states:

“I first became aware of independent creative thought and art through the efforts of MY local record stores, many years ago. I firmly believe that nothing can replace the walk into a place where you can lay hands on to new stuff and energy. I am very pleased to be able to support Record Store Day in its message of SUPPORT THE INDEPENDENTS. It’s the only honest source.”

This 5-inch tall vinyl mini series is limited to 5,000 pieces and has 4 designs, Anarchy Punk, Monster, Hero, and Let’s Party. Each is blind boxed and will debut April 16 on Record Store Day for 15.99 at various independent records stores around the world. Along with new headwear and denim, the Benny Gold accessory offering also sees growth this season. Benny speaks on the new leather card holder. “I have been using a cardholder wallet for a long time. I didn’t like how I had to constantly pull my ID out of the card slots when I go anywhere. My wallet was pre-maturely wearing, so I decided to make improvements. I adding a clear vinyl ID holder, made it a little slimmer, de-bossed paper plane branding and gave it a bright orange pop color for a lining. I’m really pleased with it and been using the sample for months.”

Today we have a compilation of what will be seen next Saturday, March 27th at the Bic Buddy Custom Show. Take a look at the amazing customs by Scribe, Brent Nolasco, kaNO, Asylm, Jester, Southerndrawl, N.C. Winters, Spanky Stokes, Saner, Jasper, Gustavo Alberto Garcia Vaca, and Ron Upperman. This is just a taste of what will be witnessed at the first opening reception at Crewest Gallery. The show should be a blast and will be making its way to both west coast and east coast.

Robotic Industries – Dr. Brain

Dr. Brain designed by Robotics Industries (Jim Freckingham) is the first vinyl project from the newly formed UK-based Raje Toys founded by Richard Emms, Adam Boreham, Jim Freckingham and Eddie Deighton.  The concept for the upcoming 7.5” vinyl figure was first seen in one of Jim’s custom Munnys.   It’s a little hard to tell in the above render, but the figure will have a translucent clear tank containing the ever-important-brain.  The figure is expected to drop in May for $59.95 and will be available in two colorways – standard (450 pcs) and chase (50 pcs).

Dr. Brain is the first figure to use Raje’s platform-ish body concept.  The ‘body’ will serve as the basis or starting point for several upcoming artist projects.  Some projects including Doktor A’s Gyroscopic Non-Ornamental Mechanised Excavator (GNOME) will swap out some of the standard parts in lieu of design-specific ones.  Very cool idea which balances artistic and business concerns.

Here’s a hearty welcome to Raje Toys.  We’re looking forward to their upcoming lineup.

Muffinman’s Clamshell’s Soup Bramble WWRp Custom

We’ve seen a few impressive WWR customs, but this Bramble WWRp custom by Muffinman from the ThreeA forums is probably the best yet.  First off, the can of soup ‘joke is great and works perfectly.  Second and perhaps equally importantly is the executation.  An idea can be great but it’s just that if the execution is lacking.  Not here at all.  From the ‘surgery’ to the paint – this one looks like a weathered can of soup off to wage battle.  Awesome – so much so that you might be fooled into thinking it’s a special production edition.

Shawnimals – Wee Devil Action Pen (3.20)

Shawnimals is well on its way to being a full-fledged brand (if it isn’t already). In addition to toys, there’s been a DS video game, zipper pulls and now Floaty pens.  The Wee Devil Action pen featuring a gang of Wee Devils that move towards the wise Ol’ Master Ninja (hence the ‘action’)  is the 1st pen from Squibble Ink’s Inked Pulp line will go on sale Saturday, March 20th from Rotofugi and other select retailers @ $5.95.  The pens were manufactured by Eskesen A/S, the Original Floating Action Pen company.   So if you’re sick of that generic disposable pen, this might be for you.

Final Countdown – Little Shadow from Ashley Wood and 3A

It’s the final countdown… (the only reason I even know who ‘Europe’ is…).  Ashley Wood and ThreeA’s Little Shadow 1:6 figure drops @ 6 PM Pacific tonight (3.18) exclusively from the Bambaland for $80.   The big news with these new pictures is the inclusion of Little Shadow’s Skullboom accessory  which Ash describes as small tactical nuke on the ThreeA Production blog.    Little Shadow is the second Adventure Kartel figure following Tommy (in the background above) and also packs Cleopatra’s Fist for dispatching her foolish foes.

Dark Horse x Toy2R – C2E2 Exclusive Domo Qee

HAWAII CHROME DOMO

Dark Horse has announced a special chrome Hawaii Domo Qee to be exclusively released at the first Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2)  in their booth (4.16 – 4.18).  Limited to 1200 pieces, this new Domo Qee from Toy2R will follow closely on the heels of the release of the Domo Qee S2 minis (3.31).  He’s shiny and ready for the Luau. Who’s game?
